Ժորա Գրիգորյանը ֆեյսբուքյան իր էջում գրում է.
Վահան Տերյանը XX դարասկզբի արևելահայ պոեզիայի նոր սերնդի առաջնորդն է: Գրական ուղին սկսելով որպես սիմվոլիստ գրող՝ այնուհետև ստեղծել է հոգեբանական ռեալիզմի իր ոճը:
Վահան Տերյանը (Տեր-Գրիգորյան) ծնվել է 1885 թվականի փետրվարի 9-ին Ջավախքի Գանձա գյուղում: Նախնական կրթությունն ստացել է իր ծննդավայրի ծխական, ապա Ախալքալաքի քաղաքային դպրոցում: Սովորել է նաև Թիֆլիսի պետական գիմնազիայում: 1899 թվականին ընդունվել է Մոսկվայի Լազարյան ճեմարանի երրորդ դասարանը:
1906 թվականին ավարտելով ճեմարանը՝ ուսումնառությունը շարունակել է Մոսկվայի համալսարանի պատմաբանասիրական ֆակուլտետում: 1913-1917թթ. սովորել է նաև Պետերբուրգի համալսարանի արևելագիտության ֆակուլտետում:
Նրան թվում էր, թե Ռուսաստանում կատարված հեղափոխությունը կարող է փրկել իր ժողովրդին ֆիզիկական բնաջնջումից, սոցիալական անարդարություններից և իր կյանքի վերջին ճիգերով նվիրվում է հեղափոխության արգասիք նոր իրականությանը: Ֆիզիկապես հյուծված ու անբուժելի հիվանդությամբ տառապող բանաստեղծն իրականացնում է ազգային հարցերին վերաբերող պետական կարևոր հանձնարարություններ:
Նման մի հանձնարարությամբ 1920 թվականին նա Մոսկվայից մեկնում է Միջին Ասիա և ճանապարհին վախճանվում իր հայրենիքից հեռու՝ Օրենբուրգ քաղաքում: Տերյանի ապրած դժվարին տարիներին հատկապես ողբերգական էր հայ ժողովրդի, մասնավորապես՝ արևմտահայերի վիճակը: Դրված էր դարերի հեռուներից եկող Հայաստանի (Նաիրի երկրի) լինել-չլինելու հարցը:
Այնուհանդերձ նուրբ ու զգայուն հոգու տեր բանաստեղծն իր մեծ նախորդի՝ Թումանյանի պես չկորցրեց իր հույսն ու հավատը սեփական ժողովրդի ապագայի նկատմամբ՝ խորապես գիտակցելով, որ մարդկային զգացմունքներից գերագույնը հայրենիքի նկատմամբ ունեցած սերն է:
