Անկախության տարեդարձը Փաշինյանի տոնը չէ։ Նա ատում է այդ անկախությունը, որովհետև ոչ թե ինքը, այլ ուրիշներն են բերել այն։
Գրել է ՀՀ առաջին նախագահ Լևոն Տեր-Պետրոսյանը․
«Փաշինյանի մտասեւեռումն ու լկտիությունը սահման չունեն․
Հայաստանի անկախության տոնը չփչացնելու նպատակով, երեկվա իմ ուղերձում ես խուսափել էի անդրադառնալ մի այլ թեմայի, որը վերաբերում է այդ տոնի նկատմամբ Փաշինյանի հիվանդագին արձագանքին.
— «Արցախը Հայաստան է և վերջ» ամպագորգոռ հոխորտանքով պատերազմ հայտարարես Ադրբեջանին և ջախջախիչ պարտություն կրես.
— Հիմարաբար մերժես պատերազմը դադարեցնելու Ռուսաստանի նախագահ Վլադիմիր Պուտինի առաջարկը.
— Գլխովին հայաթափես Արցախը և զոհաբերես հինգ հազար պայծառ երիտասարդների, իսկ տաս հազարից ավելի զինվորների հաշմանդամ դարձնես.
— Որպես պատանդ Ադրբեջանին հանձնես Արցախի ռազմաքաղաքական ղեկավարության անդամներին և ինքնագոհաբար հանդուրժես տասնյակ հայ գերիների տառապանքը Բաքվի բանտերում.
— Քո հանցավոր քաղաքականության հետևանքով Հայաստանում ապաստանած հարյուր հազարից ավելի արցախցի փախստականների նկատմամբ դրսևորես ապերախտ ու բիրտ վերաբերմունք՝ քաջ գիտակցելով, որ, վերջիններիս կարիքները պատշաճ կերպով չբավարարելու պարագայում, նրանց մեծ մասը բռնելու է գաղթի ճամփան.
— Եվ այս ամենից հետո ցինիկաբար հայտարարես և ամեն օր կրկնես ու հպարտանաս, որ խաղաղություն ես պարգևել հայ ժողովրդին, դրա փոխարեն ակնկալելով, ավելի ճիշտ, պահանջելով վերջինիս երախտագիտությունը, բայց այն չստանալով` քո ողջ մաղձը թափես նրա վրա.
— Ինչևիցե, անկախության տարեդարձը Փաշինյանի տոնը չէ։ Նա ատում է այդ անկախությունը, որովհետև ոչ թե ինքը, այլ ուրիշներն են բերել այն.
— Հաստատաբար կարելի է արձանագրել միայն մեկ բան. Փաշինյանն արդեն իսկ իր «պատվավոր» տեղն է ապահովել Հայոց տխրահռչակ դավաճանների հուշատախտակում՝ Մերուժան Արծրունու, Վահան Մամիկոնյանի, Վասակ Սյունու, Մելիք Շահնազարի և Մելիք Ֆրանգյուլի կողքին»։
