Ռուսաստանի արտաքին գործերի նախարար Սերգեյ Լավրովը հայտարարել է, որ Ռուսաստանի նախագահ Վլադիմիր Պուտինին չի հաջողվի «գայթակղել» ԱՄՆ-ի հետ առևտրային պայմանավորվածություններով, որպեսզի Մոսկվան զիջումների գնա Ուկրաինայի հարցում։ Լավրովը, հանդես գալով մամուլի ասուլիսով, անդրադարձել է մի շարք կարևոր թեմաների։
Նրա խոսքով, Ուկրաինայում տեղակայված ցանկացած խաղաղապահ ուժ ռուսական զինված ուժերի կողմից կդիտարկվի որպես օրինական ռազմական թիրախ։
Նախարարը խիստ քննադատել է նաև Եվրոպային՝ ընդգծելով, որ այն «անամոթաբար փորձում է տեղ գրավել» Ուկրաինայի շուրջ բանակցությունների սեղանի շուրջ։ «Հաշվի առնելով եվրոպական երկրների դիրքորոշումը՝ նրանք այնտեղ անելիք չունեն»,- ասել է Լավրովը։
Լավրովը եվրոպացի առաջնորդներին համեմատել է Իլֆի և Պետրովի հայտնի վեպի «նյարդային բաճկոնների» հետ՝ ընդգծելով, որ նրանք «ոչնչի համար պատասխանատու չեն, բայց շատ են խոսում այն հարցերի մասին, որոնց վրա չեն կարող ազդել»։
Խոսելով Ուկրաինայի նախագահ Վլադիմիր Զելենսկու մասին՝ Լավրովը նշել է, որ վերջինս ձգտում է կանխել Արևմուտքի «առողջ ուժերին» կառուցողական ուղու հետևելը, ինչպես նաև փորձում է ԱՄՆ-ին և ԵՄ-ին հակադրել Չինաստանի դեմ։
Նախարարը կրկին ընդգծել է, որ ռուսական բանակը չի հարվածում քաղաքացիական թիրախների կամ խաղաղ բնակչությանը, իսկ ՄԱԿ-ի գլխավոր քարտուղարի մասին ասել է, որ նա «չի համապատասխանում համաշխարհային կազմակերպության կանոնադրության պահանջներին»։
