Դեկտեմբերին բարձր ժամագործության աշխարհը կրկին կկենտրոնանա Աբու Դաբիի վրա, քանի որ Sotheby's-ը աճուրդի կհանի եզակի շարք՝ Patek Philippe Star Caliber 2000 գրպանի ժամացույցների ամբողջական հավաքածուն։ Ժամացույցները, որոնք պահպանվել են կատարյալ վիճակում իրենց թողարկումից ի վեր, գնահատվում են մոտավորապես 10 միլիոն դոլար։ Սա առաջին դեպքն է, երբ նման հավաքածուն հայտնվում է հանրային աճուրդում, ինչը աճուրդը դարձնում է աննախադեպ իրադարձություն բարձր ժամագործության աշխարհում։

Star Caliber 2000-ը մտահղացվել է որպես նոր հազարամյակի գլուխգործոց։ Patek Philippe-ը սկսել է այն մշակել 1993 թվականին՝ խիստ գաղտնիության պայմաններում, իսկ 2000 թվականին այն ներկայացվել է հավաքորդների ընտրյալ խմբի։ 21 բարդությամբ ժամացույցը պատմության մեջ երրորդ ամենաբարդ մեխանիզմն էր՝ զիջելով միայն Caliber 89-ին՝ 33 բարդությամբ, և հայտնի Henry Graves Supercomplication-ին՝ 24 բարդությամբ։

«Աստղային տրամաչափը» առանձնանում է տպավորիչ առանձնահատկություններով՝ հավերժական օրացույց, որը ավտոմատ կերպով հաշվի է առնում նահանջ տարիները և կարճ ամիսները, արևածագի և մայրամուտի ցուցիչները, ցերեկային/գիշերային ցուցադրում և հարվածային մեխանիզմ, որը նվագարկում է Վեստմինստերյան զանգը: Երկնային ցուցատախտակը իրական ժամանակում ցույց է տալիս գիշերային երկնքի շարժումը և լուսնի փուլերը: Այն պատրաստվել է ավելի քան 1100 բաղադրիչով՝ տասը արհեստավորներից բաղկացած թիմի ութ տարվա աշխատանքով, և 73.2 մմ տրամագծով թանկարժեք մետաղից պատրաստված պատյանով, որը կշռում է ավելի քան կես կիլոգրամ:

Աշխարհում կա ընդամենը հինգ ամբողջական հավաքածու՝ մեկը դեղին ոսկուց, մեկը սպիտակ ոսկուց, մեկը վարդագույն ոսկուց և մեկը պլատինից, իսկ հինգերորդ հավաքածուն ամբողջությամբ պլատինից է պատրաստված: Յուրաքանչյուր հավաքածուի հետևի մասում կա էմալապատ աստղաձև ցուցատախտակ, որը անհատապես նախագծված է հյուսիսային կամ հարավային կիսագնդի համար: Թողարկման պահին հավաքածուն արժեցել է 13.2 միլիոն շվեյցարական ֆրանկ (մոտավորապես 8.5 միլիոն դոլար), ինչը այն դարձնում է ժամանակակից ժամացույցների արդյունաբերության ամենաամբիցիոզ առաջարկներից մեկը:

Իր դեբյուտից ի վեր շուկա է վերադարձել միայն մեկ Star Caliber՝ դեղին ոսկեզօծը, որը 2012 թվականին վաճառվել է 25.3 միլիոն հոնկոնգյան դոլարով (մոտ 3.2 միլիոն դոլար): Sotheby's-ում ամբողջական, անձեռնմխելի հավաքածուի հայտնվելը հավաքորդների համար եզակի հնարավորություն է։
