Եվրամիությունը ակնկալում է, որ հայկական արդարադատության և իրավապահ մարմինները, իրականացնելով հետաքննություններ գործարար, բարերար Սամվել Կարապետյանի և ՀԱԵ Շիրակի թեմի առաջնորդ, Միքայել արքեպիսկոպոս Աջապահյանի նկատմամբ, կգործեն անկախ, արդար և հաշվետու, ինչպես նաև կպահպանեն ժողովրդավարական սկզբունքները և հիմնարար իրավունքները, ներառյալ՝ պատշաճ իրավական գործընթացը։ Այդ մասին նշել է ԵՄ Արտաքին գործողությունների եվրոպական ծառայության Մոլդովա, Բելառուս, Վրաստան, Հայաստան, Ադրբեջան բաժնի ղեկավար Դերեն Դերյան՝ պատասխանելով «Լուսավոր Հայաստան» կուսակցության նախագահի նամակին։ Էդմոն Մարուքյանը դեռև ս հուլիսի կեսերին նամակ էր հղել Եվրոպական հանձնաժողովի նախագահ Ուրսուլա ֆոն դեր Լայենին՝ ներկայացնելով քաղբանտարկյալներ Սամվել Կարապետյանի և Միքայել Սրբազանի քաղաքական հետապնդման մանրամասները։ Նամակի պատասխանը ստացվել է այսօր։

Մարուքյանին պատասխանել է Դերեն Դերյան, նշել, թե ԵՄ-ն ուշադրությամբ հետև ում է այս զարգացումներին։ «Այդուհանդերձ, նման դեպքերը քննելու իրավասությունը պատկանում է հայկական իշխանություններին, իսկ դրանց ընթացք տալը՝ ներպետական դատական համակարգին։ Ելնելով ԵՄ-Հայաստան գործընկերության հիմքում ընկած հիմնարար սկզբունքներից՝ մենք ակնկալում ենք, որ հայկական արդարադատության և իրավապահ մարմինները, իրականացնելով այս հետաքննությունները, կգործեն անկախ, արդար և հաշվետու, ինչպես նաև կպահպանեն ժողովրդավարական սկզբունքները և հիմնարար իրավունքները, ներառյալ՝ պատշաճ իրավական գործընթացը»,- նկատել է նա, վստահեցրել, որ այս սկզբունքների նկատմամբ հարգանքը ԵՄ-ի և հայկական իշխանությունների միջև կանոնավոր երկխոսության հիմնական տարրերից է։

Թեպետ ԵՄ պաշտոնյան դիվանագիտորեն խուսափել է գնահատական տալուց, բայց և նրա նամակի բովանդակությունից ակնհայտ է, որ ԵՄ-ում էլ հասկանում են ՀՀ գործող իշխանությունների կատարած ապօրինությունները, պարբերաբար այդ մասին բարձրաձայնում երկխոսության ընթացքում։
