«Եթե ուզում եք աշխարհը դարձնել ավելի լավը, պետք է պատրաստ լինեք դժվար որոշումների, պատասխանատվություն ստանձնեք դրանց համար, չվախենաք բախվել անհաջողությունների և կարողանաք վերականգնվել դրանցից հետո»: 

Ռուբեն Վարդանյանի այս խոսքերն է մեջբերել Հայ կրթական հիմնարկության (Armenian Educational Foundation) նվիրատու, կրթության հարցերով միջազգային խորհրդատու Ալիս Պետրոսյանը՝ Բևեռլի Հիլզում կայացած  Հայ կրթական հիմնարկության 75 -ամյակին նվիրված  հոբելյանական գալա-միջոցառման ժամանակ և Ռուբեն Վարդանյանի տիկնոջը՝ UWC Dilijan College-ի տնօրենների խորհրդի նախագահ  Վերոնիկա Զոնաբենդին հրավիրել է  ստանալու Հայ կրթական հիմնարկության Educational Visionaries Award մրցանակը, որը շնորհվում է կրթության ապագայի տեսլական ունեցող գործիչներին: 

«Ռուբեն Վարդանյանն ու Վերոնիկա Զոնաբենդն ամբողջ կյանքը նվիրել  են աշխարհն ավելի լավը դարձնելու գործին: Ցավով պետք է նշեմ, որ սեպտեմբերը նշանավորվում է Ռուբենի Վարդանյանի անարդար բանտարկությամբ, և նա արդեն երկրորդ տարին է, ինչ ադրբեջանական բռնապետ Ալիևի կողմից պահվում է Բաքվի բանտում: Աղոթում ենք, որ Ռուբենը շուտ ազատ արձակվի, որպեսզի մեր հաջորդ միջոցառումը նշենք Երևանում»,-ընդգծել է Ալիս Պետրոսյանը:

Նա նշել է, որ Ռուբեն Վարդանյանն ու Վերոնիկա Զոնաբենդը երազում էին Հայաստանը դարձնել  միջազգային կրթական գերազանցության կենտրոն, և  2014թվականին հենց այդպես էլ արեցին՝ հայկական փոքրիկ քաղաքում՝ Դիլիջանում հիմնադրելով  UWC քոլեջը, որը ներկայումս ունի ավելի քան 220 ուսանող 87 երկրներից և «իրական օրինակ  է, թե  ինչպիսին պետք է լինի աշխարհը խաղաղության պայմաններում»: 

Միջոցառմանը ներկա Վերոնիկա Զոնաբենդը պատիվ է  համարել նման հեղինակավոր մրցանակի շնորհումը. «Կնախընտրեի, որ մենք այստեղ հիմա   Ռուբենի հետ միասին կանգնած լինեինք: Հայաստանը կրթության միջոցով փոխելու Ռուբենի կիրքն ու սերը ինձ ոգեշնչեցին անել նույնը»:

Վերոնիկա Զոնաբենդը նշել է, որ իրեն համարում է ընտրությամբ հայ և նկատել, որ ողջ աշխարհով ցրված հայերը նաև սերնդեսերունդ  գիտելիքների փոխանցման շնորհիվ  են շարունակել միասնական  մնալ: Կրթությունն ու ընդհանուր արժեքները նա համարել է այն անտեսանելի թելերը, որոնք կապում են մարդկանց՝ անկախ հեռավորությունից: «Եվ հիմա, երբ Ռուբենը հայտնվել է անազատության մեջ՝  դաժան և անարդար հանգամանքներում, նրա կյանքն ինքնին դարձել է իր անսասան հավատի վկայությունը՝ ավելի լավ աշխարհի հանդեպ: Աշխարհ, որը կառուցված է գիտելիքի, կրթության և համայնքի ուժի վրա: Այժմ, առավել քան երբևէ, մենք պետք է միասին դեմ հանդիման կանգնենք փոփոխությունների առջև՝ փոխանցելով մեր գիտելիքները և մեր փորձը գալիք սերնդին, քանի որ նրանք են, որ մեզ  դուրս են բերելու վաղվա անորոշությունից»,-նշել է նա:

Հայ կրթական հիմնարկությունը հիմնադրվել է 1950 թվականին Լոս Անջելեսում`աջակցելու հայ ուսանողներին և կրթական հաստատություններին: Վաղ տարիներին ՀԿՀ-ն դպրոցներ է հիմնել Մերձավոր Արևելքում` այդ թվում Լիբանանում, Հունաստանում և Սիրայում: 1960-1970 թթ-ին ՀԿՀ-ն ԱՄՆ-ում ֆինանսավորում էր հայկական ամենօրյա դպրոցներին: 1988 ավերիչ երկրաշարժից հետո Հայ կրթական հիմնարկության ուշադրությունն ամբողջովին ուղղվեց դեպի Հայաստան և 1991 թ-ին անկախացումից հետո հիմնարկությունն իր գրասենյակը հիմնեց Երևանում:
