ԱՄՆ-ից ընտրված առաջին Հռոմի պապը՝ Լևոն XIV-ը, կիրակի օրը հրապարակային աղոթք է արել ԱՄՆ-ում տեղի ունեցած հրաձգության զոհերի հոգու հանգստության համար՝ կոչ անելով վերջ տալ «մեծ ու փոքր զենքի համավարակին», հաղորդում է Associated Press-ը։
Կիրակնօրյա կեսօրվա օրհնության ժամանակ, որը նա հղել է Սուրբ Պետրոսի հրապարակին նայող իր պատշգամբից, Լևոն XIV-ը հանդես է եկել անգլերենով՝ դատապարտելով հարձակումը և «զենքի տրամաբանությունը», որը, ըստ նրա, պատերազմներ է հրահրում ամբողջ աշխարհում։
«Մենք աղոթում ենք Մինեսոտա նահանգում դպրոցական պատարագի ժամանակ տեղի ունեցած ողբերգական հրաձգության զոհերի համար։ Մեր աղոթքներում հիշում ենք այն անթիվ երեխաներին, որոնք ամեն օր զոհվում կամ վիրավորվում են աշխարհում։ Աղաչենք Աստծուն՝ կանգնեցնել մեծ ու փոքր զենքի համավարակը, որը խոցում է մեր աշխարհը», – ասել է Հռոմի պապը։
Չորեքշաբթի օրը Մինեապոլիսում՝ Սուրբ Կույս Մարիամի Ավետման եկեղեցում, կրակոցների հետևանքով զոհվել է երկու երեխա, ևս 20 մարդ վիրավորվել է։ Հարձակման պահին եկեղեցում հավաքված են եղել հարյուրավոր աշակերտներ մոտակա կաթոլիկ դպրոցից և այլ քաղաքացիներ։ Կրակողը 116 կրակոց է արձակել հրացանից՝ թիրախավորելով եկեղեցու վիտրաժները, ապա ինքնասպան է եղել։
Լևոն XIV-ը իր կիրակնօրյա ելույթը սկսել է Ուկրաինայում անհապաղ հրադադարի և հակամարտող կողմերի՝ «բարեխիղճ երկխոսության» հանձնառության պահանջով։
«Ժամանակն է, որ պատասխանատու կողմերը հրաժարվեն զենքի կիրառման տրամաբանությունից և ընտրեն բանակցությունների ու խաղաղության ուղին՝ միջազգային հանրության աջակցությամբ։ Զենքի ձայնը պետք է խլացվի, իսկ եղբայրության և արդարության ձայնը՝ բարձրանա», – ասել է նա։
