Արևմտյան Անտարկտիդայի սառցե վահանը Երկրի վրա ամենամեծ սառցե զանգվածներից մեկն է, որը զբաղեցնում է գրեթե 2 միլիոն քառակուսի կիլոմետր տարածք: Սակայն գիտնականներն այժմ ենթադրում են, որ Անտարկտիդայի սառցե վանանը «աղետալի» կոլլապիս եզրին է, գրում է Daily Mail-ը:
Ավստրալիայի ազգային համալսարանի գիտնականների նոր հետազոտության մեջ պնդում են, որ ածխաթթու գազի մակարդակի գլոբալ բարձրացմանը զուգընթաց սառցե վանանը թուլանում է և ավելի վիթխարի կոլլապսի վտանգի տակ է, հաղորդում է Фокус-ը: Գիտնականների նախնական կանխատեսումներով՝ Համաշխարհային օվկիանոսի մակարդակը կարող է բարձրանալ ռեկորդային 3 մետրով, եթե սառցե շերտը փլուզվի:
Ծովի մակարդակի նման կտրուկ բարձրացումն աշխարհի մի շարք ափամերձ քաղաքներ և գյուղեր կթողնի ջրի տակ: Մեծ Բրիտանիայում ջրի տակ կհայտնվեն այնպիսի քաղաքներ, ինչպիսիք են Հալը, Սկեգնեսը, Միդլսբրոն և Նյուպորտը: Այդ նույն ժամանակ Եվրոպայում Նիդեռլանդների մեծ մասը, ինչպես նաև Վենետիկը, Մոնպելյեն և Գդանսկը, ջրի տակ կհայտնվեն:
Ըստ հետազոտության առաջադեմ հեղինակ՝ դոկտոր Ներիլի Աբրամի՝ Անտարկտիդայի սառույցում, օվկիանոսներում և էկոհամակարգերում արդեն տեղի են ունենում արագ փոփոխություններ, և գլոբալ տաքացման յուրաքանչյուր աստիճանի հետ իրավիճակը կվատթարանա։
Իրենց հետազոտության մեջ թիմը նպատակ ուներ հասկանալ՝ ճիշտ ինչ կպատահի, եթե Արևմտյան Անտարկտիդայի սառցե վանանը փլուզվի։ Արդյունքները մտահոգիչ էին. սառցե հսկայի փլուզումը կունենա «աղետալի հետևանքներ ապագա սերունդների համար»։
Ըստ դոկտոր Աբրամի՝ Անտարկտիդայի ծովային սառույցի կորուստը ևս մեկ փոփոխություն է, որն ունի մի շարք հետևանքներ, ներառյալ՝ Անտարկտիդայի շուրջ լողացող ափամերձ սառցադաշտերը ալիքային փլուզման ավելի զգայուն դարձնելը։
Նոր հետազոտությունը միաժամանակ ցույց է տալիս, որ Անտարկտիդայի ծովային սառույցի անկումը և Հարավային օվկիանոսի խոր շրջանառության դանդաղումը մտահոգիչ նշաններ են ցույց տալիս կլիմայի տաքացման նկատմամբ ավելի մեծ խոցելիության, քան նախկինում ենթադրում էին։
Քանի որ ծովային սառույցը անհետանում է օվկիանոսի մակերևույթից, կլիմայական համակարգում պահվող արևային ջերմության քանակը փոխվում է։ Փաստորեն, գիտնականները կարծում են, որ դա կբարձրացնի Անտարկտիդայի տաքացումը։
Թիմը եզրակացրել է նաև, որ մայրցամաքում մի շարք այլ փոփոխություններ շուտով կարող են անդառնալի դառնալ, դրանց թվում՝ Անտարկտիդայի շուրջ լողացող ափամերձ սառցադաշտերի կորուստը, կայսերական պինգվինների անհետացման վտանգը։
Եթե գիտնականների ամենաանհավանական կանխատեսումները ճիշտ լինեն, և աշխարհի ծովի մակարդակը բարձրանա 3 մետրով, հարյուրավոր ափամերձ քաղաքներ կարող են հայտնվել ջրի տակ։ Հետազոտության հեղինակները հույս ունեն նաև, որ արդյունքները ևս մեկ անգամ մարդկությանը կհիշեցնեն ածխաթթու գազի արտանետումները սահմանափակելու և գլոբալ տաքացումը զսպելու անհրաժեշտության մասին։
