ԱՄՆ փոխնախագահ Ջեյ Դի Վենսը, պետքարտուղար Մարկո Ռուբիոն և ԱՄՆ նախագահի ներկայացուցիչ Սթիվ Ուիթքոֆը կհամակարգեն Ռուսաստանի և Ուկրաինայի հետ աշխատանքները՝ Պուտին-Զելենսկի հանդիպումն ապահովելու համար։ Այս մասին հայտարարել է Սպիտակ տան մամուլի քարտուղար Քերոլայն Լևիթը։ Նա հաստատել է, որ ՌԴ նախագահ Վլադիմիր Պուտինը Դոնալդ Թրամփի հետ հեռախոսազրույցում արտահայտել է Ուկրաինայի նախագահ Վոլոդիմիր Զելենսկու հետ երկկողմ հանդիպում անցկացնելու իր պատրաստակամությունը։ Լևիթը պարզաբանել է, որ Թրամփը խոսել է երկու առաջնորդների հետ, և նրանք աջակցել են ուղիղ բանակցությունների գաղափարին։ Նրա խոսքով՝ ԱՄՆ ազգային անվտանգության թիմն աշխատում է այս հանդիպումը կազմակերպելու ուղղությամբ, քանի որ Թրամփը հակամարտության սկզբից ի վեր պաշտպանում է Ռուսաստանի և Ուկրաինայի միջև ուղիղ դիվանագիտությունը՝ տարաձայնությունները լուծելու համար։ «Դոնալդ Թրամփը չի ցանկանում ևս մեկ ամիս սպասել Ուկրաինայի հարցով հետագա հանդիպումների համար և կողմ է նոր շփումներին հնարավորինս շուտ։ Միացյալ Նահանգները Ռուսաստանի հետ կքննարկի Ուկրաինայի համար ընդունելի անվտանգության երաշխիքներ։ ԱՄՆ-ն չի բացառում օդային աջակցությունը որպես Ուկրաինայի անվտանգության երաշխիք։ Որպեսզի Ուկրաինայի վերաբերյալ «լավ գործարք» կնքվի, երկու կողմերն էլ պետք է որոշ չափով դժգոհ մնան»,- ասել է նա։ Միևնույն ժամանակ՝ Լևիթը շեշտել է, որ ուկրաինական հողում ամերիկյան զորքեր չեն լինի։ «Բայց մենք, անշուշտ, կարող ենք օգնել համակարգմանը և, հնարավոր է, ապահովենք անվտանգության այլ երաշխիքներ։ Ուկրաինական ճգնաժամի լուծման հարցում թունելի վերջում լույս է երևում։ Պուտինը համաձայնել է սկսել խաղաղության գործընթացի հաջորդ փուլը»,- ընդգծել է նա։
