Գերմանիայի կանցլեր Ֆրիդրիխ Մերցը երկուշաբթի կմեկնի Վաշինգտոն՝ ԱՄՆ նախագահ Դոնալդ Թրամփի և Ուկրաինայի Վլադիմիր Զելենսկու հետ հանդիպմանը մասնակցելու համար, հայտարարել է Գերմանիայի կառավարության խոսնակ Ստեֆան Կոռնելիուսը։

«Դաշնային կանցլեր Ֆրիդրիխ Մերցը երկուշաբթի կմեկնի Վաշինգտոն… Զելենսկու և այլ եվրոպական պետությունների ու կառավարությունների ղեկավարների հետ միասին՝ քաղաքական բանակցություններ վարելու համար», - ասել է նա լրագրողներին։

Կոռնելիուսը նշել է, որ ուղևորությունը նախատեսված էր տեղեկատվության փոխանակման համար Թրամփի հետ՝ Ալյասկայում Ռուսաստանի նախագահ Վլադիմիր Պուտինի հետ նրա հանդիպումից հետո։ Քննարկման թեմաները կլինեն անվտանգությունը, տարածքային հարցերը, ինչպես նաև Ուկրաինային շարունակական աջակցությունը և պատժամիջոցները։

Եվրոպական հանձնաժողովի (ԵՀ) ղեկավար Ուրսուլա ֆոն դեր Լեյենը հայտարարել է, որ մտադիր է մասնակցել ԱՄՆ նախագահ Դոնալդ Թրամփի և Ուկարինայի նախագահ Վլադիմիր Զելենսկու միջև օգոստոսի 18-ին կայանալիք հանդիպմանը։ Նա այս մասին գրել է X-ում։

«Զելենսկու խնդրանքով ես կմիանամ նրա հանդիպմանը ԱՄՆ նախագահի և եվրոպացի առաջնորդների հետ երկուշաբթի », - գրել է ֆոն դեր Լեյենը։

Եվրահանձնաժողովի ղեկավարը նաև հաստատել է, որ օգոստոսի 17-ի երեկոյան կկայանա «կամավորների կոալիցիայի» տեսակոնֆերանս՝ Զելենսկու մասնակցությամբ։
