Ուկրաինայի նախագահ Վլադիմիր Զելենսկին հայտարարել է, որ երկուշաբթի կայցելի Վաշինգտոն՝ ԱՄՆ նախագահ Դոնալդ Թրամփի հետ բանակցությունների համար։ Ըստ Reuters-ի, դա հնարավոր է դարձել Ալյասկայում Թրամփի և Ռուսաստանի նախագահ Վլադիմիր Պուտինի գագաթնաժողովից հետո, որը չի հանգեցրել Ուկրաինայում հակամարտության կարգավորման կամ հրադադարի մասին համաձայնության։

Զելենսկին սատարել է Ուկրաինայի, ԱՄՆ-ի և Ռուսաստանի միջև եռակողմ բանակցություններ անցկացնելու մասին Թրամփի առաջարկը՝ առանցքային հարցերը քննարկելու համար։ Նա ընդգծել է Ռուսաստանի հնարավոր ապագա ագրեսիաները կանխելու համար ԱՄՆ-ից անվտանգության երաշխիքներ ստանալու կարևորությունը։

Գագաթնաժողովի ընթացքում Թրամփն ու Պուտինը քննարկել են հնարավոր տարածքային զիջումներ, սակայն Զելենսկին կտրականապես մերժել է Ուկրաինայի ինքնիշխանությանը վերաբերող ցանկացած առաջարկ, ներառյալ Դոնբասը։

Գագաթնաժողովից հետո Թրամփը հեռախոսազրույցներ է ունեցել եվրոպացի առաջնորդների, այդ թվում՝ Գերմանիայի կանցլեր Ֆրիդրիխ Մերցի, Ֆրանսիայի նախագահ Էմանուել Մակրոնի և Մեծ Բրիտանիայի վարչապետ Քիր Սթարմերի հետ։ Նրանք վերահաստատել են իրենց աջակցությունն Ուկրաինային և ընդգծել ապագայում նրա անվտանգության ապահովման անհրաժեշտությունը։

Չնայած դիվանագիտական ջանքերին, Ուկրաինայի արևելքում մարտական գործողությունները շարունակվում են։ Ըստ լրատվամիջոցների, վերջին մեկ օրում առաջնագծում գրանցվել է 139 բախում, շարունակվում են նաև օդային հարվածները։

Թրամփը հույս է հայտնել, որ խաղաղության համաձայնագիր կկնքվի՝ նշելով, որ «Ուկրաինան պետք է համաձայնի գործարքին»։ Սակայն եվրոպացի առաջնորդներն ընդգծել են, որ ցանկացած որոշում պետք է հաշվի առնի Ուկրաինայի շահերն ու տարածքային ամբողջականության իրավունքը։
