Սիրիայի արևմտյան հատվածում՝ Լաթաքիա, Թարթուս և Համա նահանգներում, բնական հրդեհները ոչնչացրել են մի քանի տներ, տուժել է առնվազն 30 մարդ։ Այս մասին հայտնել է սիրիական Al-Ikhbaria հեռուստաալիքը։

Նրա խոսքով՝ կրակը հասել է Համա նահանգի արևմտյան հատվածի բնակեցված շրջաններ։ Զոհերի մասին դեռևս տեղեկություններ չկան։

Հրդեհաշիջման գործողություններին ներգրավված են ավելի քան 50 հրշեջ ջոկատներ, ինչպես նաև զինվորականներ։ Հրդեհի դեմ պայքարը բարդանում է շոգի և ուժեղ քամու պատճառով, իսկ տուժած շրջանների ռելիեֆը խոչընդոտում է հրդեհաշիջման աշխատանքներին, ինչի պատճառով հրշեջները ստիպված են ծանր տեխնիկա օգտագործել՝ դժվարամատչելի հրդեհի օջախներին հասնելու համար ճանապարհներ բացելու նպատակով։ Բացի այդ, արտակարգ ծառայությունների աշխատակիցների և զինվորականների անվտանգությանը սպառնում են մարտական գործողություններից հետո մարզերի տարածքում մնացած ականներն ու չպայթած զինամթերքները։

Այս տարվա հունիսին ՄԱԿ-ի Սննդի և գյուղատնտեսության կազմակերպության (FAO) սիրիական մասնաճյուղի ներկայացուցիչ Հայա Աբու Ասաֆը AFP-ին ասել է, որ Արաբական Հանրապետությունը ծայրահեղ երաշտի է վախվում։ Նրա խոսքով՝ վերջին 60 տարիների ընթացքում Սիրիայում «նման վատ» կլիմայական պայմաններ չեն դիտվել։
