Օրեր առաջ մամուլում տեղեկություններ էին շրջանառվում, որ Հայաստանի իշխանություններն առաջիկայում Վաշինգտոնում նոր դեսպան են նշանակելու։ Խոսքը աշխատանքի և սոցիալական հարցերի նախարար Նարեկ Մկրտչյանի մասին է։ Ի տարբերություն Լիլիթ Մակունցի, ով հասցրել է բավական լրջորեն վնասել հայ-ամերիկյան հարաբերություններին, ՔՊ արտաքին հարաբերությունների գծով պատասխանատու Նարեկ Մկրտչյանը լավ հարաբերություններ է հասցրել ստեղծել ամերիկյան կողմի հետ և բավականին լուրջ կապեր ունի ընդհուպ Դոնալդ Թրամփի մերձավոր շրջապատի հետ։

Ըստ ամենայնի, այդ կապերն ամենևին էլ կարող են չօգնել նրան դեսպան դառնալու հարցում։ Բանն այն է, որ Փաշինյանն օրերս Վաշինգտոն էր մեկնել ներկայանալի մեծ պատվիրակությամբ, այդ թվում, պատվիրակության կազմում էին՝ վարչապետի աշխատակազմի ղեկավար Արայիկ Հարությունյանն ու Բարձր տեխնոլոգիական արդյունաբերության նախարար Մխիթար Հայրապետյանը։ Տրամաբանական կլիներ, որ պատվիրակության կազմում լիներ նաև աշխատանքի և սոցիալական ապահովության նախարարը, ըստ այդմ, հենց տեղում գործի դներ իր ամերիկյան կապերը և որոշակի հարցերում օգտակար լիներ, բայց Նարեկ Մկրտչյանին Միացյալ Նահանգներ չեն տարել։ Փոխարենը Վաշինգտոնում Փաշինյանի թիմին է միացել դեսպան Լիլիթ Մակունցը, ով էլ երջանիկ ժպիտով լուսանկարվում և տեսագրվում էր՝ վարչապետի պաշտոնը զբաղեցնող անձի կողքին։

ՔՊ մեր աղբյուրների փոխանցմամբ «Քաղպայմանագրում» դժգոհ են, որ Նարեկ Մկրտչյանին կարող են դեսպան նշանակել, ընդհուպ Փաշինյանին կոչ են անում պայմանավորվել ամերիկյան կողմի հետ և Լիլիթ Մակունցին ևս մեկ ժամկետ թողնել դեսպանի պաշտոնում, նշելով, որ Մակունցն իբր բավականին լուրջ գործ է արել համաձայնագրի կնքման ուղղությամբ։ Փաշինյանն առայժմ հստակ պատասխան չի տվել, բայց և Նարեկ Մկրտչյանին Վաշինգտոն չտանելն արդեն իսկ ազդակ պետք է լինի նրա համար։
