Հայաստանն ու Ադրբեջանը 35 տարի պատերազմել են, և այժմ նրանք բարեկամներ են և երկար ժամանակ բարեկամներ կլինեն։ Փաշինյանի և Ալիևի մասնակցությամբ գագաթնաժողովի ժամանակ հայտարարել է ԱՄՆ նախագահ Դոնալդ Թրամփը։
«Նրանք 35 տարի պատերազմել են, որի արդյունքում երկու ազգերն էլ մեծապես տուժել են։ Նրանք փորձել են լուծումներ գտնել ԵՄ-ի և Ռուսաստանի օգնությամբ, շատ ջանքեր են գործադրել, բայց դա նրանց չի հաջողվել։
Քնկոտ Բայդենը ևս փորձեց, բայց մենք գիտենք, թե ինչ պատահեց։ Նա փորձեց մոտ 12 րոպե, բայց ոչինչ չստացվեց։ Շատ երկրներ փորձել են դա անել, բայց դա նրանց չի հաջողվել։
Այս համաձայնագրով մենք ձգտում ենք խաղաղության։ Հայաստանն ու Ադրբեջանը պարտավորվում են ընդմիշտ դադարեցնել բոլոր պատերազմները և հաստատել առևտուր, զբոսաշրջություն, դիվանագիտական հարաբերություններ և հարգել միմյանց տարածքային ամբողջականությունը։ Դա շատ կարևոր է։
Նրանք կունենան գերազանց հարաբերություններ, եթե ոչ, ուրեմն կզանգահարեք ինձ, և ես ամեն ինչ կկարգավորեմ։
Սա Հայաստանի և Ադրբեջանի միջև պատմական գագաթնաժողով է։ Ինձ համար մեծ ուրախություն է, երբ լավ մարդիկ հավաքվում են մեկ տեղում, և հենց դա է տեղի ունենում հիմա։
Նրանք հիանալի առաջնորդներ են, և ես ուզում եմ շնորհավորել Փաշինյանին և Ալիևին Միացյալ Նահանգներում պատմական նշանակության հռչակագիր ստորագրելու կապակցությամբ։ Նրանք երկար ժամանակ պատրաստվում էին»,- շեշտել է Թրամփը։
Նա շնորհակալություն է հայտնել իր վարչակազմի անդամներին՝ հայտարարելով, որ նրանք դեռ շատ անելիք ունեն։
Ըստ նրա՝ Սթիվ Ուիթքոֆը մեծ ուշադրություն է դարձրել այդ հարցին՝ նրան անվանելով Քիսինջեր, քանի որ «նա թույլ չի տալիս տեղեկատվության արտահոսք»։
