Նիդեռլանդների և Մեծ Բրիտանիայի մասնագետները նոր հետազոտությունից հետո հրապարակել են 10 հիմնական սպառնալիք, որոնք կարող են հանգեցնել մոլորակի գետերի դելտաների անհետացմանը։ Հետազոտության նյութերը հրապարակվել են Nature Climate Change պարբերականում։

Գետերի դելտաները գտնվում են ցածրադիր վայրերում, որտեղ դրանք թափվում են այլ գետերի կամ ծովերի, լճերի մեջ։ Երկար ժամանակահատվածում գետային նստվածքները այնտեղ ձևավորում են յուրահատուկ բնական համալիրներ։ Սակայն այսօր կլիմայի գլոբալ փոփոխությունների և մարդկանց բացասական ազդեցության ֆոնին այդ էկոհամակարգերը հայտնվել են անհետացման եզրին։ Հատկապես ծանր ավերիչ հետևանքներ են սպառնում Հռենոսին, Մեկոնգին, Նեղոսին, իսկ դրանց ափերին բնակվող բնակչությունը կազմում է 500 մլն մարդ։

Գիտնականները պարզել են դելտաների համար հիմնական ռիսկերը և դրանք բաժանել խմբերի։ Դրանք կարող են անհետանալ անտառահատումների, կլիմայի խախտումների, գրունտի փլուզումների, քաղաքային տարածքների ընդարձակման, բնական պաշարների շահագործման, ստորերկրյա ջրերի արդյունահանման, երկրագործության ինտենսիվ զարգացման, պաշտպանական կառույցների կառուցման պատճառով։

Այս սպառնալիքների համալիրը կանխելու համար պահանջվում է յուրահատուկ մոտեցում՝ հաշվի առնելով յուրաքանչյուր կոնկրետ գետի առանձնահատկությունները։ Գիտնականները մշակել են վերլուծության անցկացման սկզբունք, որը թույլ է տալիս ավելի ճշգրիտ գնահատել ռիսկերը։ Սա թույլ կտա բնապահպաններին ուժերը վերաուղղել դեպի ամենախոցելի վայրերը։
