Ըստ ՄԱԿ-ի տվյալների, Եմենի ափերի մոտ տեղի ունեցած նավաբեկության հետևանքով զոհվել է առնվազն 68 աֆրիկացի միգրանտ, ևս տասնյակ մարդիկ համարվում են անհետ կորած։
Ըստ նախնական տեղեկությունների, նավի վրա ընդհանուր առմամբ եղել է մոտ 150 մարդ։ Նավակը, ամենայն հավանականությամբ, Ջիբութիից ուղևորվում էր Եմենի Աբիան նահանգ, հայտնում է Bild-ը։ Ըստ երևույթին, նավը հայտնվել է վատ եղանակային պայմաններում, ինչից հետո խորտակվել է։
Աբիան նահանգի առողջապահության ոլորտի աշխատակից Աբդուլ Քադիր Բաջամիլը հայտնել է, որ հաջողվել է փրկել տասը մարդու՝ ինը եթովպացու և մեկ եմենցու։ Ըստ իշխանությունների, լայնածավալ որոնողական գործողություն է սկսվել. այս պահին հայտնաբերվել է 68 զոհի մարմին, որոնցից 54-ը դուրս է նետվել Խանֆար շրջանի ափ։
Ըստ Միգրացիայի միջազգային կազմակերպության (ՄՄԿ) տվյալների, Ջիբութիի և Եմենի միջև գտնվող 27 կիլոմետրանոց Բաբ էլ-Մանդեբի նեղուցով երթուղին համարվում է աշխարհի ամենավտանգավորներից մեկը։ Դրանից օգտվում են հիմնականում Եթովպիայից դուրս եկած միգրանտները՝ հաճախ նավարկության համար ոչ պիտանի նավակներով։ Ըստ ՄՄԿ-ի տեղեկատվության, անցյալ տարի Եմեն է ժամանել ավելի քան 60 000 միգրանտ։
