The Independent-ը հաղորդում է, որ ԱՄՆ-ում ձերբակալվել են քահանա Էլիխիո «Էլի» Ռեգալադոն և նրա կինը՝ Քեյթլինը, կրիպտոարժույթներով խարդախության մեղադրանքով։ Հետաքննիչների տվյալներով՝ զույգը մոտ 3,4 միլիոն ԱՄՆ դոլար է հավաքել, հիմնականում այն եկեղեցու ծխականներից, որտեղ Ռեգալադոն հոգևոր խորհրդատու էր։
Զույգը համոզել է մարդկանց ներդրումներ կատարել իրենց ստեղծած INDXCoin կրիպտոարժույթում՝ խոստանալով բարձր եկամուտ։ Սակայն, ինչպես պարզել է մեղադրանքի կողմը, թոքենն անօգուտ է եղել, և ստացված միջոցներն օգտագործվել են անձնական կարիքների համար, այդ թվում՝ տան վերանորոգում, թռիչքներ և թանկարժեք գնումներ։
Քահանան պնդում է, որ այդ գումարն օգտագործել է իր տունը «Աստծո կամքով» բարելավելու համար։ Պաշտպանությունը պնդում է, որ INDXCoin-ն արժեթուղթ չէ, այլ «կիրառական մետաղադրամ»՝ կրոնական առցանց համայնքներին մուտք գործելու համար։ Նրանք հայտարարել են նաև, որ գործել են «կրոնական մղումներով»։
Ձերբակալությունից հետո զույգն ազատ է արձակվել 100 հազար դոլար գրավի դիմաց։ Դատարանը նրանց արգելել է ԱՄՆ-ից դուրս ճանապարհորդել և հրամայել ուժեղացված նախադատավարական հսկողություն կիրառել նրանց նկատմամբ։
