Երեւանում մեկնարկած բասկետբոլի տղամարդկանց Եվրոպայի մինչեւ 20 տարեկանների առաջնության B դիվիզիոնի մրցաշարում Հայաստանի Մ-20 հավաքականն առաջին խաղում մրցեց Լատվիայի Մ-20 հավաքականի հետ եւ պարտվեց 45:97 հաշվով։
Առաջին քառորդում Հայաստանի թիմը անհաջող հանդես եկավ: NBA-ից ժամանած մասնագետ Փիթ Դոմինգեսի գլխավորությամբ Մ20 հավաքականին հաջողվեց միայն երկու անգամ գնդակ ուղարկել մրցակցի զամբյուղը՝ երկու միավորանոց գցումով եւ մեկ տուգանայինով: Մրցակիցները գնացին հանգստի 3:31 հաշվով՝ Հայաստանի հավաքականի խոշոր հաշվով պարտությամբ:
Երկրորդ քառորդը հայ բասկետբոլիստները մեծ ակտիվությամբ սկսեցին: Առաջին վայրկյաններին 8 համարի խաղացող Դանիել Կիրակոսյանը երեք միավորանոց գցում կատարեց: Մինչեւ քառորդի ավարտը Փիթ Դոմինգեսի սաները եւս 11 միավոր ավելացրին Հայաստանի հաշվին: Երկրորդ քառորդն ավարտվեց 17:49 հաշվով՝ Լատվիայի մեծ առավելությամբ:
Մեծ ընդմիջումից հետո հանդիպման երրորդ քառորդը շարունակեց լարված ընթանալ Հայաստանի հավաքականի համար: Այս քառորդում լատվիացիներն ավելացրին ճնշումը: Հայաստանի հավաքականի գրոհներն անհաջող էին ստացվում, Լատվիայի թիմի պաշտպաններին հաջողվում էր կասեցնել գնդակը կամ խլել այն հայ բասկետբոլիստներից: Երրորդ քառորդն ավարտվեց 27:66 հաշվով:
Վերջին քառորդն առավել լարված անցավ Հայաստանի հավաքականի համար: Լատվիացիները ոչ մի հնարավորություն չէին տալիս հայ բասկետբոլիստներին: Հայաստանի թիմը մեծ դժվարությամբ էին ճեղքում մրցակցի պաշտպանությունն ու գնդակը մրցակցի զամբյուղը նետում: Վերջին քառորդում Լատվիայի թիմը հիմնականում երեք միավորանոց գցումներով էր միավորներ վաստակում, որոնք հաջողությամբ իրացնում էին լատվիացի բասկետբոլիստները:
Այս քառորդում NBA մարզիչ Փիթ Դոմինգեսի գլխավորած թիմը վաստակեց 18 միավոր: Հայաստան-Լատվիա խաղն ավարտվեց 45:97 միավորով:
Հայաստանի Մ20 հավաքականի առաջին հանդիպմանը մարզադահլիճում հետեւում էր նաեւ ազգային հավաքականի գլխավոր մարզիչ, NBA մարզիչ Ռեքս Կալամյանը:
Հայաստանի բասկետբոլի ֆեդերացիայի գլխավոր քարտուղար Արթուր Նազարյանն ավելի վաղ լրագրողների հետ հանդիպմանը հայտարարել էր, որ այս առաջնությունից սպասելիքներն իրատեսական են եւ լավ արդյունք կհամարվի լավագույն տասնյակում լինելը:
«Անկեղծ եւ իրատես ենք մեր սպասելիքներում. եթե հավաքականին հաջողվի մտնել տասնյակ, կլինի շատ լավ արդյունք»,- ասել էր Արթուր Նազարյանը:
Հուլիսի 11-20-ը անցկացվող առաջնության մասնակցում է 21 երկիր: Հայաստանի մրցակիցները կլինեն նաեւ Չեռնոգորիան, Էստոնիան եւ Իռլանդիան:
Հուլիսի 12-ին Հայաստանի ընտանին կխաղա Չեռնոգորիայի հավաքականի հետ:
