ԱՄՆ պետքարտուղար Մարկո Ռուբիոն, Ռուսաստանի արտաքին գործերի նախարար Սերգեյ Լավրովի հետ հանդիպումից հետո, հայտարարել է, որ ամերիկյան կողմը հիասթափված է Ուկրաինայում հակամարտության կարգավորման գործում առաջընթացի բացակայությունից։ Միաժամանակ, Ռուբիոն ընդգծել է, որ Վաշինգտոնը մտադիր է շարունակել շփումները Մոսկվայի և Կիևի հետ։
«Մենք շարունակում ենք ներգրավված լինել գործընթացում, մենք փոխանակեցինք որոշ գաղափարներ և մեկնաբանություններ, որոնք ես կուղարկեմ Վաշինգտոն։ Սա անկեղծ զրույց էր, կարևոր, այն տեղի ունեցավ։ Մենք անդրադարձանք Ուկրաինայի հետ կապ չունեցող այլ թեմաների, բայց դա մեր քննարկած թիվ մեկ թեման էր», - լրագրողներին ասել է Մարկո Ռուբիոն։
«Նախագահը շատ հստակ էր. նա հիասթափված և վշտացած է, որ ռուսական կողմը այլևս ճկունություն չունի այս հակամարտության դադարեցման հարցում։ Մենք հույս ունենք, որ դա կփոխվի։ Մենք կշարունակենք ներգրավված լինել գործընթացում և կփնտրենք իրավիճակը փոխելու հնարավորություններ», - նշել է պետքարտուղարը։
Ավելի վաղ Դոնալդ Թրամփը նշել է, որ գոհ չէ Վլադիմիր Պուտինի գործողություններից Ուկրաինայի հարցում, քանի որ կարգավորման հարցում դեռևս արդյունքներ չկան։ ԱՄՆ նախագահն ասել է, որ լրջորեն քննարկում է հակառուսական պատժամիջոցները խստացնելու մասին օրինագիծը։ Միևնույն ժամանակ, Կրեմլը չի համաձայնել, որ ռուս-ուկրաինական հակամարտության կարգավորման գործընթացը կանգ է առել։
