Эльшан Ибрагимов, возглавлявший азербайджанскую диаспору в Московской области, был депортирован из России. Об этом сообщил Telegram-канал SHOT.

По данным РЕН ТВ, перед вылетом из московского аэропорта Шереметьево в Баку Ибрагимов заявил, что решение о депортации стало для него полной неожиданностью. Отвечая на вопрос, почему его признали угрозой национальной безопасности, он отметил, что сам не знает причин, но признался, что «немного расстроен» необходимостью покинуть страну, где прожил три десятилетия.

Ранее, 4 июля, стало известно, что Ибрагимов был лишён российского гражданства.

Депортация произошла на фоне обострения отношений между Азербайджаном и Россией. Напряжённость возникла после задержания граждан Азербайджана в Свердловской области, что вскоре привело к ответным действиям в Азербайджане, включая задержания россиян, в том числе сотрудников агентства «Sputnik Азербайджан», входящего в состав МИА «Россия сегодня».
