BRICS-ը տնտեսության ոլորտում զգալիորեն գերազանցում է G7-ին (Յոթի խումբը): Այս մասին Ռիո դե Ժանեյրոյում BRICS գագաթնաժողովի գլխավոր լիագումար նիստում հայտարարել է Ռուսաստանի նախագահ Վլադիմիր Պուտինը, որին նա մասնակցում է տեսակապի միջոցով։

Ռուսաստանի նախագահը նշել է, որ BRICS երկրները կազմում են Երկրի ցամաքային տարածքի մեկ երրորդը, մոլորակի բնակչության գրեթե կեսը և համաշխարհային տնտեսության 40%-ը: Արժույթի միջազգային հիմնադրամի տվյալներով՝ միավորման համախառն ՀՆԱ-ն գնողունակության համարժեքությամբ հասնում է 77 տրիլիոն դոլարի։

«Ի դեպ, BRICS-ը այս ցուցանիշով զգալիորեն գերազանցում է որոշ այլ միավորումների, այդ թվում՝ «Յոթի խմբին»: Այնտեղ 57 տրիլիոն դոլար է», - նշել է Պուտինը։

Նշենք, որ BRICS գագաթնաժողովը Ռիո դե Ժանեյրոյում տեղի է ունենում հուլիսի 6-7-ը: Բրազիլիայում գտնվող ռուսական պատվիրակությունը գլխավորում է Ռուսաստանի արտաքին գործերի նախարար Սերգեյ Լավրովը: Հունիսի 25-ին Ռուսաստանի նախագահի օգնական Յուրի Ուշակովը հայտարարել է, որ Պուտինը չի մասնակցի Բրազիլիայում կայանալիք BRICS գագաթնաժողովին:

Նա բացատրել է, որ որոշումը կապված է Միջազգային քրեական դատարանի (ICC) պահանջների համատեքստում առաջացած դժվարությունների հետ։ Բրազիլիայի կառավարությունը չի կարողացել հստակ դիրքորոշում ցույց տալ, որը թույլ կտար Պուտինին մասնակցել այդ հանդիպմանը։
