Ասոշիեյթեդ Փրես գործակալությունը հաղորդում է, որ Հռոմի պապ Լևոն XIV-ը այս շաբաթավերջին վեցշաբաթյա արձակուրդ է վերցնում, որը նրա առաջինն է մայիսի 8-ին տեղի ունեցած պատմական ընտրությունից հետո։

Լևոնն այսպիով վերականգնում է պապական ավանդույթը՝ փախչել Հռոմի տապից Կաստել Գանդոլֆոյի՝ Ալբան լճի ափին գտնվող պապի ամառային հանգստավայրի համեմատաբար զով կլիմայում։

Նրանք, ովքեր ճանաչում և աշխատում են պապի հետ, ակնկալում են, որ նա այս շաբաթները կօգտագործի հանրության աչքից և Վատիկանի դահլիճի ամենօրյա եռուզեռից հեռու՝ եկեղեցու առջև ծառացած ամենահրատապ հարցերը քննարկելու համար։

Ընտրությունից հետո Լեոն վերանշանակեց Վատիկանի բոլոր պրեֆեկտներին մինչև հետագա ծանուցում, ուստի Սուրբ Աթոռի ապարատը դեռևս աշխատում է հին գվարդիայի հետ։

Սակայն դեռ կան մի քանի կարևոր նշանակումներ, որոնցից ամենակարևորը Լեոյի նախկին պաշտոնի լրացումն է՝ որպես եպիսկոպոսներ նշանակող վարչության պրեֆեկտ։ Լեոն նաև պետք է որոշի, թե ով կլինի իր տեղակալը։ Վատիկանի պետքարտուղարը, որը համարժեք է վարչապետին, մնում է կարդինալ Պիետրո Պարոլինը, Հռոմի պապ Ֆրանցիսկոսի ընտրությունը, որը Լեոյին որպես պապ ընտրած կոնկլավում համարվում էր «ամենավատ թեկնածուն»։

Պապը պետք է նաև լուծի Սուրբ Աթոռի առջև ծառացած ամենահրատապ խնդիրներից մեկը՝ նրա խնդրահարույց ֆինանսները։ Վատիկանն ունի 50-60 միլիոն եվրոյի կառուցվածքային դեֆիցիտ, իսկ կենսաթոշակային ֆոնդը 1 միլիարդ եվրոյի պակաս ունի։

Ֆրանցիսկոսի պապության օրոք բացահայտվել են հոգևորականների կողմից սեռական բռնության բազմաթիվ բարձրաստիճան դեպքեր, որոնք այժմ Լեոյի սեղանին են։ Առաջին ամերիկացի պապին ուշադիր կհետևեն՝ տեսնելու համար, թե ինչպես է նա դրանք վարում, քանի որ նա չի կարող պնդել, որ ոչինչ չգիտի բռնության կամ դրա դինամիկայի մասին՝ հաշվի առնելով սկանդալների պատճառած ավերածությունները Միացյալ Նահանգներում։
