Ի տարբերություն Ռուստանի նախագահ Վլադիմիր Պուտինի դուստրերի՝ վարչապետ Դիմիտրի Մեդվեդեւի որդին՝ Իլյա Մեդեդեւը, չի թաքնվում հասարակությունից, չի փոխել անուն ազգանունը ծնողների հետ հաճախ է երեւում հասարակության առջեւ։
Օրինակ, նախորդ տարի մայիսի 9-ին՝ Հաղթանակի շքերթին, նա հոր կողքին էր։ Սպորտային տարբեր մրցաշարերի նույնպես Իլան հաճախ է այցելում։
Ավելին, 12 եւ 15 տարեկանում Իլյան նկարահանվել է «Ералаш» մանկական հաղորդաշարի մի քանի հատվածներով՝ կրկին իր անունով։

Նրա մասին ասում են՝ «նորմալ, կենսախինդ, ժպտերես տղա է», սակայն չի սիրում սոցկայքերում ակտիվ լինել։ Իլյան նաեւ չի շրջում թիկնապահներով, իրեն սովորական է պահում, սակայն ում հետ պատահի չի մտերմանում։
