«Սիրելի ժողովուրդ, Հայրապետիս համար հոգևոր անհուն ուրախություն է Կաթողիկե Սուրբ Էջմիածնի տոնի հոգենորոգ այս օրը Մայր Աթոռ Սուրբ Էջմիածնում համախմբված տեսնել ազգիս հազարավոր զավակների՝ հայրենի մեր երկրի տարբեր շրջաններից և Սփյուռքի համայնքներից»,- Կաթողիկե սուրբ Էջմիածնի տոնին ժողովրդին հղած իր հայրապետական խոսքում ասաց Գարեգին Երկրորդը
Նա իր հայրապետական բարեմաղթանքները սիրով հղեց բոլորին։
«Հավաքվել ենք Քրիստոսի էջքով սրբագրված այս սրբավայրում վերանորոգելու սիրո ու նվիրումի ուղտն՝ առ աստված, ու հայրենիքն և առ Սուրբ Էջմիածինը, որը Տիրոջ նախախնամությամբ դարձավ մեր ազգի զարթոնքի զորությունը, մեր ինքնության դարբնոցը և նոր շունչ ու ավյուն հաղորդեց մեր ժողովրդին և բազմադարյա պատմության ընթացքին»,-ասաց Գարեգին երկրորդը։
Վեհափառի խոսքով՝ Ասված հայերին ընդունեց որպես ազգ սուրբ և ժողովուրդ սեփական և Սուրբ Գրիգոր Լուսավորիչի տեսիլքով ազգին պարգևեց Սուրբ Էջմիածինը, որպես փրկության տապան։
«Ոչ ոք չի կարող դնել այլ հիմք, քան այն հիմքը, որը Հիսուս Քրիստոսինն է». ասում է Պողոս առաքյալը… Մայր Աթոռ սուրբ էջմիածինը Աստծո հետ մեր ժողովրդի հավերժական ուխտի խորհրդանիշն է, որն դրոշմված է ամեն հայի հոգում»,-ասաց Գարեգին երկրորդը։
Հիշեցնելով, որ հայոց պատմության ժամանակահատվածում հայ Առաքելական Եկեղեցին դժվար օրեր է ունեցել՝ Վեհափառն ասաց.
«Այսօր էլ նման տագնապալի օրեր ենք ապրում, մեր երկրի բազմաթիվ հիմնախնդիրների առջև միավորման ջանքերի փոխարեն, շարունակվում են հասարակությանը պառակտելու ցավալի գործողությունները։ Իշխանությունների կողմից սանձազերծված հակաեկեղեցական արշավը լրջագույն սպառնալիք է ազգային մեր միաբանությանը, մեր երկրի ներքին կայունությանը, և ուղիղ հարված Հայոց պետականությանը»,- հայտարարեց Գարեգին Երկրորդը։
Նա նկատեց, որ օրեր առաջ էլ ժողովուրդը ականատես է եղել դատապարտելի երևույթի՝ եկեղեցու բարերար, հոգևոր զավակ Սամվել Կարապետյանի դեմ բռնաճնշումներին։
«Ատելությամբ և թշնամանքով երբեք բարիք չի ստեղծվի, բռնաճնշումներով երբեք երկիր չի կառուցվի, սպառնալիքի և վախի մթնոլորտում արդարություն և համերաշխություն չի հաստատվի»,- ասաց Հայոց կաթողիկոսը։
