Քիմիկոսները մոդելավորել են մեկուկես հազարից ավելի արևային վահանակների կոնֆիգուրացիաներ՝ հիմնվելով նոր նյութի վրա, որի հատկությունները գերազանցում են սովորական պերովսկիտներինը: Ավելին, այն ավելի էկոլոգիապես մաքուր է և ոչ պակաս արդյունավետ:

Կապար-հալոգենային պերովսկիտային արևային մարտկոցների (LHPSC) ի հայտ գալը առաջընթաց է դարձել ֆոտովոլտային արդյունաբերության մեջ՝ արդյունավետության ռեկորդային արժեքների շնորհիվ: Դրանք հասնում են էներգիայի փոխակերպման բացառիկ արդյունավետության՝ 25% միա-միացման արևային մարտկոցներում և 29% մոնոլիտ տանդեմ կոնֆիգուրացիաներում:

Այնուամենայնիվ, ինչպես նշել են Քերետարոյի ինքնավար համալսարանի (Մեքսիկա) գիտնականները իրենց աշխատանքում, ավանդական պերովսկիտային արևային մարտկոցներն ունեն նաև մի շարք թերություններ՝ կապարի թունավորություն, կարճ կյանք և բարձր անկայունություն, գրում է մերկ գիտությունը: Սա, իր հերթին, «դանդաղեցնում է» դրանց լայն կիրառումը:

Քիմիկոսները խնդիր են դնում գտնել այլընտրանքային նյութեր, որոնք կմիավորեն կապարի հալոգենային պերովսկիտային արևային մարտկոցների եզակի հատկությունները օքսիդային պերովսկիտների ոչ թունավոր բնույթի հետ: Գիտնականները որպես արեգակնային մարտկոցների հիմք վերցրել են քաղկոգենիդային պերովսկիտները (SrHfSe 3). այս կիսահաղորդչային նյութերը քիմիապես կայուն են և արդյունավետորեն արեգակնային էներգիան վերածում են էլեկտրական էներգիայի։

Հետազոտողները ստեղծել են արեգակնային մարտկոց՝ տարբեր նյութերի մի քանի շերտերից, իսկ մոլիբդենի դիսուլֆիդը (MoS2) օգտագործվել է որպես անցքային հաղորդիչ։ Այնուհետև այն հաջորդաբար փոխարինվել է անօրգանական կիսահաղորդիչների, պոլիմերների և MXenes-ների շերտերով (երկչափ նանոմատերիալներ, որոնք բաղկացած են անցումային մետաղների կարբիդներից, նիտրիդներից և կարբոնիտրիդներից)։

Օգտագործելով SCAPS-1D արեգակնային մարտկոցների մոդելավորման ծրագիրը՝ քիմիկոսները մշակել են 1627 սարքի կոնֆիգուրացիաներ՝ հիմնվելով նոր SrHfSe 3 CPs պերովսկիտի վրա։ Աշխատանքի ընթացքում գիտնականները կարողացել են օպտիմալացնել որոշիչ պարամետրերը՝ մոտենալով իրական շահագործման պայմաններին։ Ուսումնասիրությունը ցույց է տվել, որ քաղկոգենիդային պերովսկիտները կարող են ցուցադրել արտադրողականության աճ։ Փորձարկված նյութերի մեջ լավագույն արդյունքները ցույց տվեցին երեք հաղորդիչ շերտերը՝ SnS - արդյունավետություն 27.87%, CPE-K - 27.39% և Ti2CO2 - 26.3%:
