ԱՄՆ նախագահ Դոնալդ Թրամփը հայտնել է, որ ցանկանում է երկու շաբաթվա ընթացքում որոշել՝ արդյոք Իսրայելին ուղղակի ռազմական օգնություն տրամադրի Իրանի դեմ պատերազմում: Դրա պաշտոնական բացատրությունը՝ ԱՄՆ-ի եւ Իրանի միջեւ «բանակցությունների համար նշանակալի հնարավորությունն» օգտագործելու ցանկությունը, դժվար թե հավատալի լինի ստեղծված իրավիճակում: Հետաձգումը, ըստ երեւույթին, այլ պատճառներ ունի:
Ամերիկյան Axios պորտալի համաձայն՝ Թրամփը ցանկանում է համոզվել մի քանի հարցում՝ նախքան Իրանին հարվածելու արդեն հաստատված ծրագրերը կյանքի կոչելը։
Նախ՝ նա ցանկանում է լիովին վստահ լինել, որ ԱՄՆ միջամտությունն իսկապես անհրաժեշտ է։ Ամերիկյան կառավարությունում բոլորը չէ, որ համոզված են, որ Իրանը մոտ է միջուկային ռումբ ստեղծելուն։ Մասնավորապես, հետախուզական ծառայությունների համակարգող Թուլսի Գաբարդը համարվում է Իսրայելի քննադատ եւ կասկածի տակ է դնում իսրայելական հետախուզական տվյալները։
Երկրորդ՝ ԱՄՆ նախագահը չի ցանկանում երկարատեւ հակամարտության մեջ մտնել Մերձավոր Արեւելքում, նրան անհրաժեշտ է արդյունավետ եւ, ամենակարեւորը՝ արագ գործողություն։
Եթե նա գրոհի Իրանը, ապա անհրաժեշտ կլինի ոչ միայն հարվածել նրա միջուկային օբյեկտներին, այլեւ կանխել Պարսից ծոցում գտնվող ամերիկյան բազաների դեմ Իրանի պատասխան հարվածները։ New York Post-ի տվյալներով՝ կառավարության որոշ անդամներ զգուշացնում են Թրամփին, որ ռազմական միջամտությունը կարող է անկայունություն եւ հետեւանքներ առաջացնել, որոնք համեմատելի կլինեն Իրաքում կամ Սիրիայում ԱՄՆ հարվածների հետեւանքների հետ։
Եթե պլանը ձախողվի եւ ամերիկացի զինվորներ զոհվեն, Թրամփը ստիպված կլինի արձագանքել՝ Մերձավոր Արեւելք ուղարկելով ավելի շատ ռեսուրսներ՝ մոլլաներին պատժելու համար։ Սա մղձավանջ է ԱՄՆ նախագահի համար, որն իր ընտրողներին խոստացել է «վերջ դնել բոլոր պատերազմներին»։
Երրորդ՝ Թրամփը ցանկանում է վստահ լինել, որ ԱՄՆ հարձակումն իրականում կոչնչացնի իրանական միջուկային ծրագիրը, գրել է Bild-ը: Նրա շահերից չի բխում գործողությունը, որը մեծ գումարներ կարժենա եւ ամերիկացիների մահվան վտանգ կպարունակի, բայց երկարաժամկետ հաջողության չի հանգեցնի:
Այս բոլոր գործոնները կարող են խրախուսել Դոնալդ Թրամփին հնարավորինս երկար հետաձգել Իրանի դեմ հարձակումը՝ հույս ունենալով, որ Մերձավոր Արեւելքում վերջին րոպեի իրադարձությունները ԱՄՆ միջամտությունը կդարձնեն ավելորդ։ Օրինակ, եթե Թեհրանը կապիտուլյացիայի ենթարկվի կամ Իսրայելը ինքնուրույն ոչնչացնի մնացած միջուկային օբյեկտները։
