U.S. Open 1900-ի ժամանակ Հարի Վարդոնի հաղթական գոլֆի գնդակն աճուրդում վաճառվել է գրեթե 200,000 դոլարով

Սպորտի, պատմության և հավաքորդության խաչմերուկում աճուրդները կարող են կախարդական լինել, հատկապես, երբ գործի են դրվում այնպիսի արտեֆակտներ, ինչպիսին է լեգենդար Vardon Flyer-ը, որն օգտագործել է Հարրի Վարդոնը 1900 թ-ի ԱՄՆ բաց առաջնության եզրափակչում։ Այս եզակի իրը վաճառվել է The Golf Auction-ում՝ տպավորիչ 194,259.20 դոլարով։
Ի՞նչն է գնդակն այդքան արժեքավոր դարձնում։ Ոչ միայն դրա տարիքը կամ հազվագյուտությունը, այլև, ամենից առաջ, դրա հետևում կանգնած պատմությունը։ Մասունքը պահպանվել է Ռայդերի գավաթի հնգակի մասնակից Քեն Ջ. Բրաունի կողմից, ով նաև տրամադրել է դրա իսկությունը հաստատող ստորագրված նամակ։
Հարի Վարդոնը և գոլֆի հեղափոխությունը
Հարի Վարդոնը 20-րդ դարի սկզբի իսկական սուպերաստղ էր։ Նրա մարզական նվաճումները գրավեցին Spalding ապրանքանիշի ուշադրությունը, որը Vardon-ի հետ համատեղ թողարկեց նոր գնդակ նրա անվամբ՝ Vardon Flyer-ը։
Այս գնդակը պատրաստված էր գուտապերչայից՝ բնական լատեքսից, որը հեղափոխություն մտցրեց գոլֆի սարքավորումների աշխարհում։ Այն խաղացողներին ապահովում էր ավելի լավ հեռահարություն և ճշգրտություն, ինչը իր ժամանակի տեխնոլոգիական հրաշքն էր։
1900 թվականին Վարդոնը նոր Սպոլդինգի գնդակով և մականներով գովազդային շրջագայության մեկնեց Միացյալ Նահանգներ։ Ուղևորության շրջանակներում նա մասնակցեց ԱՄՆ բաց առաջնությանը և հաղթեց հենց այս գնդակով՝ նպաստելով գոլֆի մասսայականացմանը Ատլանտյան օվկիանոսի երկու կողմերում էլ։
125 տարի անց․ 200 դոլարից մինչև 200,000 դոլար
Հետաքրքիր փաստ. 1900 թվականին ԱՄՆ-ում հաղթելու համար Վարդոնը Բաց առաջնության համար ստացավ ընդամենը 200 դոլար, նույնքան, որքան նրա գնդակը կարժենար 125 տարի անց, բայց հիմա՝ ճանաչման և գնաճի առումով։
Աճուրդը սկսվել է 15,000 դոլար մեկնարկային գնով և 21 առաջարկով։ Ինտենսիվ աճուրդներից հետո գնդակը վաճառվել է վեցանիշ գնով։ Ցուցահանդեսը տեղադրված է արծաթե ցուցանակով ստենդի վրա՝ «American Championship – Wheaton 1900 – Won by H. Vardon – Score 323»։
Ի դեպ, փորագրության մեջ սխալ կար. 321 միավորի փոխարեն, որը Վարդոնն իրականում հավաքել էր, գրված է 323՝ այդ ժամանակների բնորոշ անճշտություն։
Չնայած իր փոքր չափսին և տարիներով պայմանավորված մաշվածությանը, այս գնդակը համարվում է գոլֆի աշխարհի ամենակարևոր մարզական արտեֆակտներից մեկը՝ խորհրդանիշ այն խաղացողի, ով հաղթել է իր խաղերի գրեթե 75%-ում և գոլֆը վերածել միջազգային մարզաձևի։
