Իրանի Իսլամական հեղափոխության պահապանների կորպուսի (ԻՀՊԿ, զինված ուժերի էլիտար ստորաբաժանումներ) զինվորականները մի քանի օր առաջ կանխել են Իսրայելի կողմից Իրանի արտաքին գործերի նախարար Աբբաս Արաղչիի դեմ մահափորձը, X-ում հայտարարել է նախարարի խորհրդական Մոհամմադ Հոսեյն Ռանջբարանը Ժնևում Իրանի և «եվրոպական եռյակի» (Մեծ Բրիտանիա, Ֆրանսիա, Գերմանիա) միջև բանակցություններից առաջ: Այս մասին գրում է ՌԻԱ «Նովոստի»-ն:

«Այն բանից հետո, երբ հայտարարվեց, որ արտգործնախարարը մեկնում է Ժնև՝ «եվրոպական եռյակի» հետ բանակցություններ վարելու, ես բազմաթիվ զանգեր եմ ստացել՝ գուցե սիոնիստական ռեժիմը փորձի թիրախ դարձնել նրան։ Այո՛, նման սպառնալիք, անշուշտ, գոյություն ուներ և կա։ Սակայն Աբբաս Արաղչին իրեն ավելի շատ հայրենիքի զինվոր է համարում, քան դիվանագիտական ​​ծառայության ղեկավար… Եթե ԻՀՊԿ-ի կողմից ձեռնարկված անվտանգության միջոցառումները չլինեին, գուցե մի քանի օր առաջ Թեհրանում նրա դեմ մահափորձ իրականացվեր, որը, փառք Աստծո, կանխվեց։ Եկեք աղոթենք նրա և մեր հայրենիքի դիվանագետների համար… որպեսզի նրանք կարողանան հաջողության հասնել Իրանի ինքնիշխան իրավունքների իրացման գործում», - գրել է Ռանջբարանը։

Ավելի վաղ Իրանի արտաքին գործերի նախարարությունը հայտարարել էր, որ Իսլամական Հանրապետությունը ուրբաթ Ժնևում բանակցություններ կանցկացնի ԵՄ-3-ի (Մեծ Բրիտանիա, Ֆրանսիա, Գերմանիա) հետ։ Բանակցությունները կկենտրոնանան Իրանի միջուկային ծրագրի վրա՝ Թեհրանի և Թել Ավիվի միջև հակամարտության սրման ֆոնին։
