2024 թվականին աշխարհը տեսավ Ուփսալայի հակամարտությունների տվյալների ծրագրի մասնագետների կողմից անցկացված դիտարկումների պատմության մեջ պատերազմների և զինված հակամարտությունների ամենամեծ թիվը: Այս հաստատությունը 1946 թվականից ի վեր հավաքում և ուսումնասիրում է կազմակերպված բռնության, պատերազմների և ռազմական հակամարտությունների վերաբերյալ տվյալներ: Այս գնահատականը հնչում է կազմակերպության տարեկան զեկույցում: Միևնույն ժամանակ, հետազոտողները գրանցել են մահացությունների ընդհանուր թվի նվազում և քաղաքացիական բնակչության նկատմամբ բռնության դեպքերի աճ:
Շվեդիայից մասնագետները ներկայացրել են զեկույց, որում խոսել են վախեցնող միտման մասին. վերջին 15 տարիների ընթացքում զինված հակամարտությունների թիվը գրեթե կրկնապատկվել է: Միայն 2024 թվականին UCDP-ն գրանցել է առնվազն մեկ պետության մասնակցությամբ 61 նման հակամարտություն, այդ թվում՝ 11 լայնածավալ պատերազմներ: Սա ռեկորդ է նախագծի պատմության մեջ, հաղորդում է Naked Science-ը:
Հակամարտությունների թվի աճին չնայած, կազմակերպության հաշվարկներով, մահացությունների ընդհանուր թիվը 2024 թվականին նվազել է։ Այնուհետև, կազմակերպված բռնության հետևանքով զոհվել է 160 հազար մարդ, ինչը մի քանի անգամ պակաս է, քան 2022 թվականին (առնվազն 237 հազար զոհ), որը, ըստ Շվեդիայի հետազոտողների, դարձել է 21-րդ դարի ամենաարյունալիներից մեկը։
Վերլուծաբանները հայտնել են, որ 30 տարվա դիտարկումների արդյունքում 2024 թվականը բռնության առումով զբաղեցրել է չորրորդ տեղը, ամենամահացու տարին 1994 թվականն էր, երբ տեղի ունեցավ Ռուանդայի ցեղասպանությունը։ Այս իրադարձությունների ընթացքում, տարբեր գնահատականներով, զոհվել է 500 հազարից մինչև մեկ միլիոն մարդ։
Զեկույցի համաձայն, 2024 թվականին ամենամեծ թվով մարդիկ զոհվել են Ուկրաինայի հակամարտության ժամանակ՝ գրեթե 76 հազար մարդ։ Որոշ անուղղակի նշանների համաձայն, հետազոտողները կարող են զգալիորեն թերագնահատել մոլորակի այս հատվածում զոհերի թիվը։ Այնուհետև գալիս է Մերձավոր Արևելքը։ Իսրայելի ռազմական գործողությունները Գազայի հատվածում և Լիբանանում «Հեզբոլլահ»-ի դեմ խլել են գրեթե 26 հազար մարդու կյանք։
