Չինաստանն առաջին անգամ ավելի շատ ներդրումներ է կատարում արտասահմանում հողմային և արևային էներգետիկայի մեջ, քան ածխային էլեկտրակայաններում, հայտնում է նոր ուսումնասիրությունը: 2022-2023 թվականներին Չինաստանը, իր «Գոտի և ճանապարհ» գլոբալ նախաձեռնության շրջանակներում, արտասահմանյան էներգետիկայի մեջ իր ներդրումների 68 %-ն ուղղել է արևային և հողմային էներգիայի հետ կապված նախագծերին: Սա դարձել է շրջադարձային պահ, քանի որ նախորդ տարիներին վերականգնվող էներգիայի այս տեսակները կազմել են Չինաստանի էներգետիկ ոլորտի արտասահմանյան ներդրումների ընդամենը 13 %-ը:
«Գոտի և ճանապարհ» նախաձեռնությունը, որը պատմականորեն ասոցացվել է ածխային էլեկտրակայանների ֆինանսավորման հետ, վերջին տարիներին սկսել է կենտրոնանալ ավելի էկոլոգիապես մաքուր տեխնոլոգիաների վրա: Բոստոնի համալսարանի Գլոբալ զարգացման քաղաքականության կենտրոնի կողմից անցկացված նոր վերլուծությունը ցույց է տալիս, որ վերջին երկու տարիներին Չինաստանն ակտիվորեն ներդրումներ է կատարում վերականգնվող էներգիայի աղբյուրներում, մինչդեռ մինչև 2021 թվականը պլանավորված ածխային էլեկտրակայանների հին նախագծերը դեռ շարունակում են իրականացվել:
Այնուամենայնիվ, չնայած վերականգնվող էներգետիկայի ուղղությամբ այս դրական քայլերին, Չինաստանի արտասահմանյան ներդրումների ընդհանուր ծավալը դեռ նվազում է՝ համեմատած 2016 թվականի ռեկորդային մակարդակների հետ: 2022-2023 թվականներին Չինաստանն արևային և հողմային նախագծերում ներդրել է ընդամենը 3 գիգավատտ հզորություն, մինչդեռ 2013-2019 թվականներին միջին ցուցանիշը կազմել է 16 գիգավատտ տարեկան:
