Համաձայն տեղական ինքակառավարման մասին օրենքի՝ դիմումը ներկայացնելուց հետո կազմվում է ավագանու անդամի լիազորությունները վաղաժամկետ դադարեցնելու մասին արձանագրություն եւ յոթ աշխատանքային օրվա ժամկետում ուղարկվում ընտրատարածքային ընտրական հանձնաժողով։
Ընտրատարածքային ընտրական հանձնաժողովը ավագանու անդամի հրաժարականի մասին դիմումը ստանալուց հետո՝ յոթ աշխատանքային օրվա ընթացքում, կազմում է ավագանու անդամի լիազորությունները դադարեցնելու մասին արձանագրություն, որից հետո վերջինիս լիազորությունները համարվում են դադարեցված։
