Fox News-ին տված հարցազրույցում 94-ամյա Շաթները, որն ունի և՛ Կանադայի, և՛ ԱՄՆ քաղաքացիություն, հակադարձել է.«Եկեք առաջարկենք Միացյալ Նահանգներին դառնալ մեր 11-րդ նահանգը, պատկերացրեք ուրախությունը: Այստեղի մարդիկ ընկերասեր են։ Նրանք ասում են ձեզ՝ եկե՛ք: Մեզ մոտ ավելի մաքուր է, մենք շատ էներգիա ունենք, և կան լավ մարդիկ, որոնք ցանկանում են աշխատել ձեզ հետ»:
Նրա մեկնաբանությունը հնչել է ի պատասխան Կանադայի՝ Միացյալ Նահանգներին հնարավոր միանալու մասին Թրամփի կրկնվող հայտարարություններին:
Այնուամենայնիվ, ոչ բոլորն են գնահատել դերասանի հեգնական տոնը: Շաթները խոստովանել է, որ իր հարցազրույցից հետո բազմաթիվ բացասական մեկնաբանություններ է ստացել։
