Новый канцлер Германии Фридрих Мерц в интервью изданию Bild ответил на вопрос о возможности личной встречи с президентом России Владимиром Путиным.
«Если возникнет необходимость, если это помогло бы положить конец этой войне, я готов на многое. Но прежде всего мы должны посмотреть, сможем ли мы достичь цели — прекращения огня — уже по итогам этих выходных», - сказал он.
По словам канцлера ФРГ, в Европе действуют согласованно с США, требуя 30-дневного прекращения огня в Украине.
«Теперь мяч на стороне Путина. Путин должен дать ответ на это предложение», - сказал он.
По словам Мерца, если Россия отвергнет перемирие, «будет серьезное ужесточение санкций и будет продолжена масштабная помощь Украине — политическая, финансовая и военная».
Канцлер ФРГ добавил, что президент США Дональд Трамп, «очевидно, теряет терпение по отношению к Путину».
