Մայիսի 4-ին Ն.Ս.Օ.Տ.Տ. Գարեգին Երկրորդ Ծայրագույն Պատրիարք և Ամենայն Հայոց Կաթողիկոսը Մայր Աթոռ Սուրբ Էջմիածնում ընդունել է Ֆրանսիայի Մարսել քաղաքի քաղաքապետ Բենուա Պայանի գլխավորած պատվիրակությանը, որի կազմում էին քաղաքային իշխանության և հայ համայնքի ներկայացուցիչներ:
Հանդիպմանը ներկա է եղել Հայաստանում Ֆրանսիայի Հանրապետության արտակարգ և լիազոր դեսպան Օլիվիե Դըկոտինյին։
Վեհափառ Հայրապետը ընդգծել է, որ պատվիրակության այցը Հայաստան և Մայր Աթոռ Սուրբ Էջմիածին Հայ ժողովրդի համար այս բարդ ժամանակներում ևս մեկ դրսևորումն է հայ-ֆրանսիական բարեկամության և Ֆրանսիայի իշխանությունների կողմից ցուցաբերվող զորակցության։
Հանդիպմանը Հայոց Հայրապետն անդրադարձել է Մարսելի քաղաքային իշխանության և հայ համայնքի սերտ գործակցությանը, գոհունակությամբ արձանագրելով, որ Հայոց ցեղասպանությունը վերապրած մեծ թվով հայորդիներ ապաստան են գտել նաև Մարսել քաղաքում, որտեղ և կազմակերպել են իրենց ազգային-հոգևոր կյանքը՝ օգտակար ներդրում բերելով երկրի առաջընթացին:
Իր հերթին Մարսելի քաղաքապետ Բենուա Պայանը, շնորհակալություն հայտնելով Նորին Սրբությանը ընդունելության համար, անդրադարձել է հայ-ֆրանսիական պատմական առնչակցություններին, կարևորել տեղի հայ համայնքի և ազգային կազմակերպությունների ներդրումն ու շարունակական ներգրավվածությունը քաղաքի զարգացման գործում։ Քաղաքապետ Պայանը նաև հավաստիացրել է Հայոց Հովվապետին, որ անհրաժեշտ ջանքերը կգործադրվեն հայ ժողովրդի առջև ծառացած մարտահրավերների հաղթահարման ուղղությամբ։
