Իլոն Մասկը տարիներ է ծախսել, որպեսզի դառնա բիզնեսի հսկա և տեխնոլոգիական կանխատեսող։ Սակայն, ըստ The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research-ի հարցման, վերջին ամիսներին Վաշինգտոնում ուժ հավաքելուն զուգահեռ Մասկի ժողովրդականությունը նվազել է։

Ամերիկացի մեծահասակների միայն 33 տոկոսն է դրական կարծիք հայտնել Մասկի մասին, որը Թրամփի ընտրվելուց հետո կոշտ աշխատանք է իրականացնում՝ կրճատելով աշխատատեղերը և վերաձևավորելով դաշնային կառավարությունը։ Այդ հարցում նրա ժողովրդականությունը նվազել է դեկտեմբերին եղած 41 տոկոսի համեմատ։

Հարցումը ցույց է տվել, որ մեծահասակների մոտ երկու երրորդը կարծում է, որ Մասկը վերջին ամիսներին չափից դուրս մեծ ազդեցություն է ունեցել դաշնային կառավարության վրա, չնայած այդ ազդեցությունը, հավանաբար, մոտենում է ավարտին։ Ակնկալվում է, որ միլիարդատեր ձեռնարկատեր, կլքի իր վարչական պաշտոնն առաջիկա շաբաթներին։

Հարցումները նաև ցույց են տալիս, որ Մասկի քաղաքականությունը գնալով ավելի պահպանողական է դառնում։ 10 անկախներից միայն մոտ 2-ը և 10 դեմոկրատներից  մոտ 1-ը դրական կարծիք ունեն Մասկի մասին, համեմատած 10 հանրապետականներից մոտ 7-ի։

Բացի այդ,10 անկախներից մոտ 7-ը և 10 դեմոկրատներից մոտ 9-ը կարծում են, որ Մասկը չափազանց մեծ ազդեցություն ունի և 10 հանրապետականներից միայն մոտ 4-ն է այդ կարծիքին։
