Միացյալ Նահանգների նախագահ Դոնալդ Թրամփը «Հայոց հիշատակի օրվա» ուղերձ է հղել, որտեղ օգտագործել է «Մեծ եղեռն» եզրույթը։
«Այսօր մենք ոգեկոչում ենք Մեծ Եղեռնի հիշատակը և հիշատակում այն հրաշալի հոգիներին, որ տուժել են 20-րդ դարի ամենասարսափելի աղետներից մեկի ժամանակ։ Հիշատակի այս օրը մենք կրկին միանում ենք Ամերիկայի և ամբողջ աշխարհի հայ մեծաթիվ համայնքին, որը սգում է բազմաթիվ զոհերի համար:
Ամեն տարի ապրիլի 24-ին մենք հիշում ենք ամերիկյան և հայ ժողովուրդների միջև ամուր և մնայուն կապերը: Մենք հպարտ ենք հայերի եւ Սիրիայի օգնության ամերիկյան կոմիտեով, որը 1915 թվականին ստեղծված բեկումնային կազմակերպություն է՝ մարդասիրական կարեւորագույն աջակցություն է ցուցաբերել հայ փախստականներին, եւ երախտապարտ ենք հազարավոր ամերիկացիների, որ իրենց ներդրումն են ունեցել կամ կամավոր օգնել իրենց տներից վտարված հայերին:
Մենք ակնկալում ենք շարունակել մեր ռազմավարական գործընկերությունը Հայաստանի հետ և աջակցել տարածաշրջանային կայունությանը՝ ձգտելով հասնել կայուն բարգավաճման և անվտանգության:
1915 թվականից սկսած՝ Օսմանյան կայսրության գոյության վերջին տարիներին մեկուկես միլիոն հայեր աքսորվեցին և դատաապրտվեցին մահվան։ Այս օրը, ի դեմս ողբերգության, մենք վկայում ենք հայ ժողովրդի ուժի և տոկունության մասին․ Դոնալդ Թրամփ
Մեր բախտը բերել է, որ այդքան շատ հայեր իրենց հարուստ մշակույթը բերել են մեր ափեր և մեծ ներդրում ունեցել մեր երկրի զարգացման գործում՝ զինվորներ, էստրադայի հայտնի արտիստներ, հայտնի ճարտարապետներ և հաջողակ գործարարներ»:
