Ադրբեջանի նախագահ Իլհամ Ալիևը երեկ հերթական հայտարարություններն է արել Հայաստանի դեմ` հայտարարելով, որ գնդակը Հայաստանի դաշտում է՝ սեփական Սահմանադրությունը փոխելու հարցում, սպառնացել, որ շուտափույթ կերպով իր պահանջները չկատարելու դեպքում նոր ռազմական էսկալացիան անխուսափելի է լինելու։
Ավելին, Ալիևն այնքան է լկտիացել, որ հայտարարել է, թե Ադրբեջանը չի կատարելու Մարդու իրավունքների եվրոպական դատարանի կայացրած որոշումները։ Ըստ նրա` պատճառը ԵԽԽՎ-ում ադրբեջանական պատվիրակության լիազորությունների դադարեցումն է։ «Եթե պատվիրակությունը չի մասնակցում Վեհաժողովի նիստերին և չի կարող քվեարկել Մարդու իրավունքների եվրոպական դատարանի (ՄԻԵԴ) դատավորների ընտրության համար, ապա Ադրբեջանի վերաբերյալ այս դատարանի որոշումները կհամարվեն անվավեր։ Մենք զրկված ենք ձայնի իրավունքից, չենք քվեարկել այդ դատավորների օգտին և չգիտենք, թե ովքեր են նրանք»,- ասել է Ալիևը։
2024 թվականի հունվարի 24 Վեհաժողովը քվեարկությամբ որոշել էր չվավերացնել Ադրբեջանի պատվիրակության լիազորությունները և հեռացրել էր պատվիրակությանը։ Այս ընթացքում Եվրոպական դատարանը մի շարք վճիռներ է կայացրել, որոնք վերաբերում են հայ-ադրբեջանական կոնֆլիկտին, ինչպես նաև Բաքվում ռազմագերիների հարցերին։ Փաստացի Իլհամ Ալիևը հայտարարում է, թե մտադիր չէ կատարել որևէ վճիռ։
Փոխարենն Ադրբեջանը շարունակում է համառորեն կեղծ տեղեկություններ տարածել հրադադարի ռեժիմի խախտումների վերաբերյալ։ Վերջինն էլ Ադրբեջանի ՊՆ հաղորդագրությունն է, թե իբր ապրիլի 9-ին, ժամը 23։50-ի սահմաններում ՀՀ ԶՈՒ ստորաբաժանումները կրակ են բացել սահմանագոտու հյուսիսարևելյան հատվածում տեղակայված ադրբեջանական դիրքերի ուղղությամբ Հայաստանի պաշտպանության նախարարությունը հերքել է, թե իբր Տավուշի մարզից կրակոցներ են եղել։ Այս ամենը վկայում է, որ Ադրբեջանը նոր ռազմական էսկալացիայի է պատրաստվում և դրա համար նոր հիմքեր է ստեղծում։
