Ֆրանսիայի անդրծովյան տարածքների նախարար Մանուել Վալսը դատապարտել է «ապակայունացման նոր փորձերը»՝ Ադրբեջանի պետության կողմից աջակցվող կազմակերպության՝ Բաքվի նախաձեռնող խմբի նամակից հետո, որում առաջարկել Նոր Կալեդոնիայի ինստիտուցիոնալ ապագայի շուրջ բանակցություններում հանդես գալ իբրև միջնորդ:

«Հանդես գալով մեր միասնության դեմ ուղղված ապակայունացման այս փորձերին՝ Ֆրանսիան միշտ հաստատուն և կոշտ պատասխան կտա»,-ըստ Le Figaro-ի՝ հայտարարել է Վալսը։

Նա նաև նշել է, որ Ֆրանսիան չի ճանաչում Բաքվի նախաձեռնող խմբին, որն Ադրբեջանի տարածքից գործողություններ է իրականացնում՝ ուղղված «արտերկրում Ֆրանսիայի ռազմավարական շահերի դեմ»։

Վալսին ուղարկված նամակում Բաքվի խումբը հայտարարել  է, որ առաջարկում է «նախաձեռնություն Ֆրանսիայի կառավարության և Կանակիի (անկախության շարժման կողմից Նոր Կալեդոնիային տրված անվանումը - խմբ.) միջև անաչառ միջնորդության նախաձեռնություն, որի նպատակն է նոր շունչ հաղորդել քննարկումներին և նպաստել դրանց»:

Ամիսներ շարունակ Փարիզը Բաքվին մեղադրել է Նոր Կալեդոնիայի և այլ անդրծովյան տարածքների գործերին միջամտելու և շահարկելու մեջ՝ երկու մայրաքաղաքների միջև լարվածության ֆոնին՝ Ադրբեջանի պատմական հակառակորդ Հայաստանին Ֆրանսիայի աջակցության պատճառով:
