Բրիտանացի գիտնականները նոր հետազոտություն են անցկացրել՝ գնահատելու գոտևորող հերպեսի դեմ պատվաստանյութի ազդեցությունը դեմենցիայի զարգացման հավանականության վրա։
Վերլուծելով մեծածավալ էլեկտրոնային բժշկական քարտերը՝ հետազոտողները կարողացան համեմատել երկու խմբերի միջև դեմենցիայի զարգացման երկարաժամկետ վտանգը՝ նվազագույնի հասցնելով խանգարող գործոնները:
Արդյունքները հաստատվել են Անգլիայում և Ուելսում դեմենցիայի հետ կապված մահերի երկրորդական վերլուծությամբ՝ ավելի ամրապնդելով պատճառահետևանքային կապը:
Հետազոտությունը, որը հրապարակվել է Nature ամսագրում, օգտագործել է ռեգրեսիոն վերլուծության մեթոդը, պատճառահետևանքային կապերը որոշելու վիճակագրական մեթոդը և վերլուծել տվյալները յոթ տարվա ընթացքում:
Հետազոտությունը ցույց է տվել, որ գոտևորող հերպեսի դեմ պատվաստանյութի ընդունումը կապված է յոթ տարվա ընթացքում դեմենցիայի ախտորոշումների 3,5 տոկոսային կետով կրճատման հետ, ինչը 20%-ով հարաբերական նվազում է նշանակում:
Պաշտպանիչ ազդեցությունն ավելի ուժեղ է եղել կանանց մոտ՝ հասնելով վիճակագրական նշանակության, մինչդեռ տղամարդկանց մոտ արդյունքներն անհամոզիչ էին՝ ավելի լայն վստահելի միջակայքերի պատճառով: Իրենց եզրակացությունները հաստատելու համար հետազոտողները առանձին վերլուծություն են անցկացրել՝ օգտագործելով մահվան վկայականների տվյալները: Այս երկրորդային վերլուծությունը հաստատեց նրանց սկզբնական եզրակացությունները՝ ցույց տալով, որ գոտևորող հերպեսի դեմ պատվաստանյութի առկայությունը ինը տարվա ընթացքում նվազեցրել է դեմենցիայից մահացությունը մոտ 5%-ով:
Դեմենցիայից բացի, հետազոտությունը հաստատեց նաև, որ պատվաստանյութը զգալիորեն նվազեցրել է գոտևորող լիշայի առաջացման հաճախականությունը, ինչը համահունչ է կլինիկական փորձարկումների տվյալներին:
Հետազոտողները դիտարկել են պատվաստանյութի ակնհայտ պաշտպանիչ ազդեցության մի քանի հնարավոր բացատրություններ: Վարկածներից մեկն այն էր, որ պատվաստանյութն օգնում է ճնշել ծաղիկ հիվանդության վիրուսի վերաակտիվացումը, որը գոտևորող լիշայ է առաջացնում: Որոշ ուսումնասիրություններ ցույց են տվել, որ վիրուսի նման վերաակտիվացումը կարող է նպաստել նյարդային բորբոքման զարգացմանը, որը դեմենցիայի զարգացման հիմնական գործոնն է:
Հնարավոր մյուս մեխանիզմը ենթադրում է պատվաստանյութի ավելի լայն իմունոմոդուլացնող ազդեցությունը: Որոշ պատվաստանյութեր, ինչպիսին գոտևորող հերպեսի դեմ պատվաստանյութն է, կարող են խթանել իմունային համակարգը՝ ոչ միայն իրենց հիմնական նպատակին հասնելու համար: Իմունիտետի այս խթանումը կարող է օգնել օրգանիզմին պայքարել այլ վարակների կամ նյարդային բորբոքումների դեմ, որոնք կապված են դեմենցիայի հետ, հնարավոր է այնպիսի մեխանիզմների օգնությամբ, ինչպիսիք են մարզված իմունիտետը կամ հետերոլոգ հարմարվողական իմունիտետը:
