Նա ընդգծել է, որ եթե Երևանը գնում է Եվրոպա, ապա անհրաժեշտ է վերանայել Ռուսաստանի հետ տնտեսական հարաբերությունների ամբողջ համալիրը։
Երեկ ԱԺ-ն երկրորդ ընթերցմամբ և ամբողջությամբ ընդունել է «Եվրոպական Միությանը Հայաստանի Հանրապետության անդամակցելու գործընթացի մեկնարկի մասին» օրենքի նախագիծը: Կողմ են քվեարկել 64 պատգամավոր, դեմ՝ 7, ձեռնպահ՝ 0: «Հայաստան» խմբակցությունը չի մասնակցել քվեարկությանը: «Պատիվ ունեմ»-ը դեմ է քվեարկել:
«Ես կարդացել եմ օրենքի տեքստը, որն ընդունվել է։ Այն կողմ է լավ ամեն ինչին, դեմ ամեն վատի, կիրառված են միանգամայն ընդհանուր բառեր։ Սա Հայաստանի ներքին հարցն է։ Իրանակում մենք հասկանում ենք, որ և՛ ԵԱՏՄ-ն, և՛ ԵՄ-ն ունեն նման օրակարգեր։ Եվ հետևաբար, երկիրը, իհարկե, պետք է որոշի և այս ընտրությունը կատարի։ Քանի որ չի հաջողվի միաժամանակ նստել երկու աթոռի վրա, դա միանգամայն հաստատ է»,- ասել է ՌԴ փոխվարչապետը։
«Մենք տեսնում ենք, որ Հայաստանը շարունակում է ակտիվորեն աշխատել Եվրասիական տնտեսական միությունում, և այսօր այն իր դրական ներդրումն է ունենում եվրասիական ինտեգրման գործում: Մեր կողմից, իհարկե, մենք ուշադիր հետևում ենք այդ գործընթացներին։ Մենք հասկանում ենք, որ եթե Հայաստանը գնա Եվրոպա, ապա, համապատասխանաբար, անհրաժեշտ կլինի վերանայել այս երկրի հետ տնտեսական հարաբերությունների ամբողջ համալիրը։ Եվ, ցավոք, սա կազդի Հայաստանում մարդկանց կենսամակարդակի վրա, ինչը, իհարկե, մենք իսկապես չէինք ցանկանա»,- հավելել է նա։
