ՆԱՏՕ-ի գլխավոր քարտուղար Մարկ Ռյուտեն Վարշավայի Տնտեսագիտության դպրոցում դասախոսության ժամանակ վճռականորեն հավանություն է տվել Դաշինքի դերին՝ հայտարարելով Եվրոպային և ԱՄՆ-ին, որ աճող աշխարհաքաղաքական մարտահրավերների պայմաններում «այժմ միայնակ գործելու ժամանակը չէ», գրում է The Guardian-ը:

«Գիտեմ, որ կան հարցեր անդրատլանտյան կապերի և եվրոպական անվտանգությանը Միացյալ Նահանգների հավատարմության վերաբերյալ: Հնչում է կոշտ հռետորաբանություն:

Առևտրի և մաքսատուրքերի վերաբերյալ բարդ բանավեճեր են ընթանում Եվրոպայի և Ամերիկայի միջև, և եվրոպական ինքնավարության գաղափարները վերակենդանացնելու կոչեր են հնչում:

Թույլ տվեք հստակություն մտցնել. հիմա միայնակ գործելու ժամանակը չէ՝ ո՛չ Եվրոպայի, ո՛չ Հյուսիսային Ամերիկայի համար։ Համաշխարհային անվտանգության մարտահրավերները չափազանց մեծ են մեզանից որևէ մեկի համար միայնակ դիմակայելու համար: Երբ խոսքը վերաբերում է Եվրոպայի և Հյուսիսային Ամերիկայի անվտանգության ապահովմանը, ՆԱՏՕ-ին այլընտրանք չկա։։

Ըստ ՆԱՏՕ-ի գլխավոր քարտուղարի՝ «առանց ԱՄՆ-ի, Մեծ Բրիտանիայի, Թուրքիայի, Կանադայի, Նորվեգիայի և Իսլանդիայի անհնար է պատկերացնել Եվրոպայի պաշտպանությունը, և ոչինչ չի կարող փոխարինել Ամերիկայի միջուկային հովանոցին, որը մեր անվտանգության գլխավոր երաշխավորն է»։

Ըստ Ռյուտեի՝ ինքը «միանգամայն վստահ է, որ Միացյալ Նահանգները հավատարիմ է մնում ՆԱՏՕ-ին և 5-րդ հոդվածին»:

«Սոսկ իմ խոսքին մի հավատացեք: Լսեք նախագահ Թրամփին, որըւ բազմիցս հայտարարել է ուժեղ ՆԱՏՕ-ի իր հավատարմության մասին:

Լսեք ԱՄՆ Կոնգրեսում երկկուսակցական ուժեղ աջակցությունը և լսեք ամերիկացի ժողովրդին, որի երեք քառորդը, ըստ վերջին հարցման, աջակցում է ՆԱՏՕ-ին»,- եզրափակել է ՆԱՏՕ-ի գլխավոր քարտուղարը:
