Число погибших в лесных пожарах в Южной Корее выросло до 24

По меньшей мере 24 человека погибли в лесных пожарах на юго-востоке Республики Корея. Об этом сообщили в центральном штабе по борьбе со стихийными бедствиями и обеспечению безопасности.
По его данным, серьезно пострадали 12 человек, еще 14 получили незначительные травмы. Ранее сообщалось о 15 жертвах.
В среду исполняющий обязанности президента, премьер-министр Хан Док Су назвал лесные пожары «худшими в истории» Республики Корея. По словам премьера, эвакуировано около 23 тыс. человек. Во время борьбы с огнем в среду разбился вертолет Sikorsky S76. Погиб 73-летний пилот.
Пожары на юго-востоке страны бушуют с 21 марта. Власти не исключают, что причиной могло быть неосторожное обращение с огнем. Тушение осложняют сильный ветер и сухая погода. В трех регионах - в городе Ульсан, провинциях Кёнсан-Пукто и Кёнсан-Намдо - объявлен режим бедствия. Всего в борьбе с огнем были задействованы 128 вертолетов, более 1,1 тыс. военных, примерно 3,1 тыс. пожарных, 1,1 тыс. специалистов по борьбе с лесными пожарами, около 4,6 тыс. госслужащих.
