Германия 13 лет спустя открыла свое посольство в Сирии

Спустя более чем три месяца после свержения бывшего президента Сирии Башара Асада Германия в четверг вновь открыла свое посольство в Дамаске, сообщает Немецкая волна.
Посольство, закрытое в 2012 году на фоне гражданской войны в Сирии, было официально открыто министром иностранных дел Германии Анналеной Бербок, которая посещает Сирию уже во второй раз после свержения Асада.
По словам Бербок, небольшое число немецких дипломатов возобновит свою деятельность в Дамаске, но консульская работа, например, выдача виз, будет продолжаться в Бейруте в соседнем Ливане.
Этот шаг знаменует собой значительный этап в восстановлении отношений между Берлином и руководством Дамаска, которое сталкивается с гуманитарными проблемами и проблемами безопасности, пытаясь восстановить страну после падения Асада.
В Германии проживает более миллиона сирийцев, многие из которых покинули родину во время кровопролитной гражданской войны, пишет СМИ.
