Այսօր Մեծ Պահքի երկրորդ կիրակին է, որը հայտնի է նաև ԱՐՏԱՔՍՄԱՆ ԿԻՐԱԿԻ անվամբ: Այն խորհրդանշում է դրախտից մեր նախածնողների արտաքսվելը. «Եվ Տեր Աստված արտաքսեց նրան բերկրության դրախտից...» (Ծննդ. Գ 23):

Եթե նախորդ կիրակի՝ ԲՈՒՆ ԲԱՐԵԿԵՆԴԱՆԻՆ, վայելում էինք դրախտային կյանքը և խոսում մարդ-Աստված սերտ և անմիջական հարաբերության մասին, ապա այս կիրակի պտղի ճաշակման, Ադամի և Եվայի պատվիրանազանցության և անհնազանդության պատճառով անդրադառնում ենք «մեղք» հասկացությանը, ինչպես շարականագիրն է ասում. «Պտղի ճաշակմամբ [նախածնողները] ճաշակեցին մեղքի և մահվան դառնությունը»:

Փաստորեն հենց մեղքի պատճառով է խզվել մարդ-Աստված սերտ հարաբերությունը, այն խոչընդոտ է մեր և Արարչի միջև: Ադամի և Եվայի պատմությունը շարունակվում է նաև այսօր. մենք էլ մեր երկրային կյանքում շատ անգամ գիտակցաբար կամ անգիտակցաբար նրանց նման ճաշակում ենք «արգելված պտղից», բայց երբ ապաշխարում ենք և զղջում մեր կատարած մեղքերի համար, Աստված ներում է մեզ և կրկին իր գիրկն ընդունում: Ի վերջո՝ մարդու նպատակը կորսված դրախտ վերադառնալն է, որպեսզի նախածնողների նման լիարժեքորեն և ամբողջապես ապրենք ու վայելենք Աստծո ներկայությունը մեր կյանքում:

Հետևաբար, Մեծ Պահքի ճանապարհորդության այս հանգրվանում խորհենք մեր մեղքերի մասին և ապաշխարության խորհրդի միջոցով մոտենանք Աստծուն:
