Օդաչուն վթարային վայրէջք է կատարել «Հիթրոու» օդանավակայանում

Դեպի Չիկագո թռիչքի իրականացման ժամանակ BA295 ինքնաթիռի շասսին տեխնիկական խափանումներ է ունեցել, և օդաչուները ստիպված են եղել սթրեսային վթարային վայրէջք կատարել «Հիթրոու» օդանավակայանում: Ինքնաթիռը 2 ժամ արդեն ճանապարհին է եղել, երբ փոխել է ընթացքը տեխնիկական պատճառներով: Ինքնաթիռը 9000 ոտնաչափ (~2.7 մ) բարձրության վրա է եղել և դատարկել է վառելիքը մինչ 5-ի փոխարեն 3 խումբ անիվներով վայրէջք կատարելը ժ. 17:30-ին:
Ուղևորներին խնդրել են դուրս գալ, որպեսզի խուսափեն ինքնաթիռի կողաշրջումից: Ինքնաթիռի ուղևորներից շատերն անմիջապես գրառում են արել Twitter-ում, շնորհակալություն են հայտնել օդաչուներին, գրել են, թե ինչպես են իրենց դիմավորել փրկարարական մեքենաներով: Նրանց տեղափոխել են 2-րդ ինքնաթիռ թռիչքը շարունակելու համար, բայց շատերը, այդ թվում և մի հղի կին, շատ մտահոգված ու սթրեսային վիճակում են եղել նորից ինքնաթիռ նստելու համար:
Ուղևորներից մեկը նշել է, որ հենց նոր էին անցել Իսլանդիան, երբ կապիտանը ասել է, որ տեխնիկական անսարքության պատճառով պետք է վերադառնան: Նա նաև զգուշացրել է, որ վառելիքը թափելու են և արտակարգ իրավիճակի մեքենաները դիմավորելու են իրենց: Ուղևորները հանգիստ շունչ են քաշել և երկար ծափահարել, երբ կապիտանը հայտնել է, որ արդեն բարեհաջող վայրէջք են կատարել: Բրիտանական ավիաընկերությունը ներողություն է խնդրել ուղևորներից տեխնիկական անսարքության համար:
