Իսրայելի պաշտպանության բանակն ուժեղացնում է իր հակաահաբեկչական գործողությունը Արևմտյան ափի հյուսիսում՝ զրահապատ դիվիզիա տեղակայելով Ջենինի շրջանում: Ռազմական մամուլի ծառայությունից հայտնում են, որ 2002 թվականին անցկացված «Պաշտպանիչ պատ» օպերացիայից հետո սա առաջին դեպքն է, երբ զրահամեքենաներ են մտնում տարածաշրջան։
Իսրայելի պաշտպանության բանակի տվյալներով, «Նահալ» բրիգադը և «Դուվդևան» հատուկ ստորաբաժանումը սկսել են գործել Ջենինի մերձակա գյուղերում, իսկ տանկային դիվիզիան ձեռնամուխ է եղել հարձակողական գործողությունների հենց քաղաքում: Զինվորականները շարունակում են ակտիվությունը նաև Թուլկարմի հատվածում։
Իսրայելի պաշտպանության նախարար Իսրայել Կացը հայտարարել է, որ մոտ 40 հազար պաղեստինցի լքել է Ջենինի, Թուլկարմի և Նուր Շամսի փախստականների ճամբարները, և որ այժմ այնտեղ «խաղաղ բնակիչներ չկան»: Նա զորքերին հրամայել է նախապատրաստվել այս գոտիներում «երկարատև մնալուն»՝ արգելելով բնակչության վերադարձը առնվազն մեկ տարով։
