Апокалиптические предсказания ученых появляются все чаще. Одни отмечают усиленное таяние льдов Антарктиды, другие бьют тревогу по поводу «перегрева» Арктики и опасных аномалий в Гренландии. Глобальное потепление уже вызывает некоторое повышение уровня океана, а если процессы не затормозятся, то ситуация длишь усугубится.
В публикации для издания Daily Mail океанологи предупреждают: если человечество не займётся срочно снижением выбросов парниковых газов, то вероятен рост уровня моря до 1,9 метра. А это чревато затоплением прибрежных городов в различных странах.
Если земляне смогут уменьшить объемы вредных выбросов, то уровень воды будет расти меньше — от 30 сантиметров до 1 метра, передает Planet Today. Среди городов, что могут пострадать, находятся населенные пункты ряда стран Европы, а также южные штаты США и Объединенные Арабские Эмираты. В нашей стране под угрозой Якутия, Чукотка и Ямало-Ненецкий автономный округ.
В других прогнозах эксперты, напротив, ждут нового похолодания. И тоже обосновывают свои гипотезы. В частности, математическими расчетами на основе данных о циклах потепления и похолодания на Земле в прошлые эпохи.
