Կենտրոնական ընտրական հանձնաժողովը երեկ հաստատեց, որ Գյումրիի ավագանու ընտրությունները կայանալու են մարտի 30-ին։ Նույն այդ օրը ոստիկանները ձերբակալել են Գյումրիի նախկին քաղաքապետ Վարդան Ղուկասյանին և նրա թիկնապահին։ Ընդ որում, գործողությունն իրականացրել են բավական կոշտ, գետնին են պառկեցրել նախկին քաղաքապետին, մարմնական վնասվածքներ հասցրել գլխի շրջանում։ Ժամեր անց Ղուկասյանին ազատ արձակեցին, իսկ նրա թիկնապահին տեղափոխեցին հիվանդանոց։ Ներքին գործերի նախարարությունից հայտնել էին, որ նրանց ձերբակալել և տեղափոխել էին քրեական ոստիկանության Շիրակի մարզային վարչություն ապօրինի զենք-զինամթերք պահելու և կրելու կասկածանքով: Որևէ կասկած այդպես էլ չէր հաստատվել։

Վարդան Ղուկասյանն, իհարկե, սուրբ չէ, բազմաթիվ քրեական պատմություններով է անցել, բայց նրա դեմ կատարվածը բոլորովին էլ քրեական անցյալով պայմանավորված չէ, այլ զուտ քաղաքական ենթատեքստ ունի։ Իշխանությունները սկսել են վախենալ, որ Գյումրիում ջախջախիչ պարտություն են կրելու, և ընդդիմադիր թեկնածուների դեմն առնելու միայն մեկ տարբերակ ունեն, ոստիկանական ուժերով, ծեծուջարդով ապահովել իրենց հաղթանակը։

Զուր չէ, որ իշխանական քարոզչամեքենան էլ կեղծ հարցումներ է հրապարակում, իբր իրենց թեկնածուն առաջատարն է։ Իրականում Սարիկ Մինասյանը, որին Գյումրիում հարգում էին նախքան ՔՊ թռչելը, այսօր որևէ շանս չունի արդար ընտրություններով հաղթանակ տանելու։
