Արցախի ԱԺ պատգամավոր Մետաքսե Հակոբյանը գրում է․
«1988 թ.-ի փետրվարի 20-ին Արցախյան շարժումը ծնվեց։ Ծնվեց ազատության, ազգային ինքնության պահպանման և արդարության վերականգնման նպատակով ու դարձավ ազգի միասնականության խորհրդանիշը։ 37 տարի առաջ հավատում էինք, որ Արդարության հաղթանակն անարյուն է լինելու, սակայն ստիպված եղանք մեր բնօրրանում ապրելու իրավունքը հաստատելու համար պարտադրված պատերազմների ահուսարսափն ապրել, հազարավոր հերոս նահատակների կորուստը սգալ։ 37 տարի անց, շուտով արդեն 2 տարի, մեր Հայրենիքը օկուպացված է բարբարոս ադրբեջանի կողմից առանց հայերի, մենք՝ զրկված մեր տներում, Արցախում ապրելու բնական իրավունքից, Մայր Հայաստանում իշխանությունների ձեռամբ արժանապատիվ ժամանակավոր կեցության հնարավորությունից։
Մեր ռազմաքաղաքական ղեկավարությունը, հայրենակիցները բաքվի բանտերում են, կեղծ մեղադրանքներով դատավարությունների զոհեր են, իսկ Արդարությունն ու Արժանապատվությունը՝ լուռ։
1988-ի փետրվարի 20-ը գլխավորն է վերահաստատում, որ Արցախի հայության վերադարձի իրավունքն անօտարելի է, որ պետք է առանց թուլանալու շարունակել պայքարել Արդարության հաղթանակը հաստատելու համար։ Հակառակ դեպքում աշխարհը մեզ հենց մեր թուլությունը չի ների, նման ղեկավար ունենալը չի ների, որը փետրվարի 20-ին ընդառաջ իրական նիկոլիզմի գաղափարախոսությունն է հրամցնում, որտեղ առավել քան պարզ հայտարարվում է պետություն չունենալու մասին և բաքվի բռնապետի հրահանգով ՀՀ Սահմանադրության փոփոխությամբ <<նոր պետության>> ստեղծման մասին։ Ակամայից հիշեցի այդ նույն ղեկավարի գոռ ու գոչյունը. <<Արցախը Հայաստան է և վերջ>>…
