Խաղաղ անհնազանդության շարժման տրամաբանությունն ի սկզբանե մերժում է առկա քաղաքական խնդիրների հանգուցալուծումն իշխանության կողմից թելադրված պայքարի միջոցներով: Պայքարի այս միջոցի ընձեռած քաղաքական ուժը ճիշտ կիրառելու արդյունքում հնարավորություն է ընձեռվում խարխլել նույնիսկ ամբողջատիրական համակարգերի խոցելի կողմերը: Գործնական կիրառելիության ընթացքում խաղաղ անհնազանդությունը կարող է թե՛ բավականին ընդգրկուն ռազմավարական խնդիրներ լուծել, թե՛ կենտրոնանալ որոշակի տեղային նպատակների իրականացման վրա: Փողոցային պայքարի ճիշտ մարտավարության կիրառման դեպքում հնարավոր է ապահովել հանրային լայն մոբիլիզացիա: Միևնույն ժամանակ խաղաղ անհնազանդությունը նպաստում է հասարակության շրջանում արդյունավետ իշխանության գաղափարի տարածմանը՝ առավել հավանական դարձնելով ժողովրդավարական հասարակության ստեղծումն ու պահպանումը: 
 
Խաղաղ անհնազանդությունը կարող է ծառայել տարբեր նպատակների՝ քաղաքական հակառակորդին տարատեսակ գործողությունների մղելուց մինչև անգամ սեփական նպատակն իրագործելու համար անհրաժեշտ օբյեկտիվ իրականության ստեղծմանը կամ էլ քաղաքական իշխանության տապալմանը: Խաղաղ պայքարի միջոցները հիմնականում առնչվում են բնակչության և սոցիալական ինստիտուտների կողմից կիրառվող հոգեբանական, սոցիալական, տնտեսական և քաղաքական «զենքերի» հետ: Վերջիններս դրսևորվում են բողոքի ակցիաների, հանրահավաքների, համագործակցության մերժման (գործադուլներ, հացադուլներ, առևտրային բոյկոտներ և այլն), ժողովրդական ճնշման տեսքով:
